Background
Swile is a popular French employee benefits platform that brings meal vouchers (titres-restaurant), gift cards, and mobility reimbursements (transport, cycling, and more) together into a single smart card and app. Employees can manage benefits, pay, and even send money to colleagues, while HR and finance teams gain a simple, digital way to manage corporate benefits and boost employee satisfaction.
With teams in France and Brazil and offices in cities like Paris and Caen, Swile needed a physical security platform that could keep pace with its digital-first culture. The team was looking for a unified cloud solution that would be:
Intuitive for both IT and local office teams to use
Aligned with strict data protection standards
Easy to deploy and scale as Swile opens and upgrades sites
“Swile wanted a unified cloud solution that was highly secure, intuitive, and compliant with demanding data protection standards.”

The Challenge
Before Verkada, office access and security workflows were more manual and fragmented. Onboarding a new employee could take up to twenty minutes while IT or office managers processed information, configured access, and printed a physical badge. Managing multiple systems added complexity to day-to-day operations and audits.
Swile wanted to:
Automate access for employees and contractors without relying on physical badges
Consolidate access control, video, and alarms into a single, cloud-managed platform
Improve visibility across sites like Paris and Caen, with an eye toward future offices
Support internal and external audits with clear logs, strong encryption, and consistent policies
The Solution — Unified, Cloud-Managed Physical Security
1. Automated, Badge-Less Access Control
Swile deployed Verkada access control to simplify how employees enter the office and how IT manages credentials behind the scenes.
Native SSO and SCIM integration: Swile connects Verkada Access Control with its identity providers, so access is automatically granted or revoked based on HR and IT systems.
No more badge printing queues: When a new employee joins, their access can be granted almost instantly, without waiting to encode and print a physical card.
“Onboarding a collaborator is now almost instantaneous. Before, it could take around twenty minutes to manage the information and print the badge. It’s a real change in how we work.”

From a management perspective, everything runs through a single web-based platform. IT teams can:
Add or remove users in bulk
Apply role-based access policies by team, role, or location
Monitor door events in real time and investigate anomalies with a few clicks
The system also continues door operations locally even during network interruptions, thanks to edge processing and cross-device communication.
2. Video Security and Analytics for a Modern Workplace
Verkada cameras give Swile high-quality video coverage across its offices, with analytics that go beyond traditional CCTV.
Hybrid cloud architecture: Cameras process and store footage on the device, then sync to the cloud, eliminating NVRs/DVRs and reducing infrastructure overhead.
AI-powered search and context: Swile’s security team can quickly review footage using motion and people analytics, rather than manually scrubbing through hours of video.

Swile also experiments with new analytics capabilities as they are released:
People counting and occupancy trends to better understand how spaces are used
Heatmaps to visualise movement patterns and identify high-traffic areas
“The platform is constantly evolving. We often get new updates and features to test, like heatmaps and people counting.”
These tools support both security and workplace decisions — from understanding how entrances are used to validating that access policies align with real-world behaviour.
3. Proactive Security With Alarms and Smart Alerts
Cameras, alarms, and access control devices are tightly integrated within Command, allowing Swile to move from passive monitoring to proactive security.
Door-held-open detection: If a door remains open for too long, Swile’s team can cross-check the event with live or recorded video to understand what happened.
Line-crossing alerts: Using virtual lines drawn in the camera view, the team can receive alerts when someone crosses a defined boundary, such as entering a restricted area or moving against an expected flow.

“If a door stays open too long, I can cross-check the video context with alerts to see what happened. It’s the same with alarms — we draw virtual lines on the camera image, and whenever someone crosses them, the alarm triggers.”
These capabilities allow Swile to focus on the events that matter rather than monitoring every feed in real time, while still having the context needed to respond quickly.
4. Intercom and Entry Experience
Swile also adopted Verkada intercoms to modernise the entry experience for visitors and employees.
All-in-one device: Each intercom combines a video camera, two-way audio, and a built-in door reader in a single, design-forward unit.
Flexible receiving: Calls can be answered from a desk, mobile app, or browser, making it easy for distributed teams to manage visitors.

“From a hardware point of view, we’ve had a lot of new products, including a new, very stylish intercom that I really like.”
This setup aligns with Swile’s brand as a modern, user-friendly digital platform, while maintaining a high security standard at the front door.
5. Simple Deployment, Minimal Maintenance, and Always-On Support
Swile highlights the operational simplicity of the platform as a key benefit.
Plug-and-play installation: Devices need only power and an internet connection to come online; there is no server stack to build or maintain.
Cloud-managed updates: New software and AI features are delivered automatically, with no manual patching or scheduled downtime.
24/7 technical support: Verkada’s global support team is available via chat, phone, and email, with response times typically measured in seconds for live channels.
“Verkada is designed to be plug-and-play: quick installation, simple configuration, minimal maintenance. And every time I’ve contacted support, I’ve had an answer almost instantly.”
Results
With Verkada, Swile has:
Reduced the time and effort required to onboard employees and manage access
Consolidated access control, cameras, intercoms, and alarms into one cloud-managed platform
Strengthened compliance for audits and certifications by centralising logs and applying consistent policies
Gained a more proactive security posture through AI-powered alerts, people analytics, and integrated alarms
“Verkada simplifies our operations so much that employees barely notice it’s there. The experience is transparent and seamless.”
What’s Next
Swile plans to expand its Verkada deployment to new offices in Montpellier and Toulouse, and to adopt Verkada Guest for a more modern, branded visitor check-in experience.
As Swile continues to scale its employee benefits platform across new markets, Verkada provides a physical security foundation that grows with them — cloud-first, privacy-conscious, and simple for teams to manage day to day.
