Integration with SimonsVoss SmartIntego Wireless Locks

Verkada now supports SimonsVoss’s SmartIntego Digital Locking Cylinder and Digital SmartHandle wireless locks. These locks support a variety of access credentials, including ultra-secure, encrypted Verkada DESFire EV3 cards and fobs. These online locks communicate to the SimonsVoss GatewayNode hub, which connects directly to a Verkada AC12 door controller over PoE. Customers can remotely unlock doors, see live door events, manage door schedules and access, trigger a lockdown, monitor battery levels, and more from Command.

SimonsVoss SmartIntego wireless locks on the Verkada platform will be available for customers in the UK and Europe beginning February 13, 2025.

Non-Unique Multi-Factor Authentication Codes

Verkada access control now supports the ability to assign codes solely for the purpose of multi-factor authentication (MFA). These MFA codes can be used alongside a keycard on the AD64 door reader, or third party reader with keypad, to unlock a door when the door is configured in the Card+Code schedule. Since these codes must be used alongside a user’s credential, they do not have to be unique within an organization.

MFA codes are being added in addition to the existing “entry code” field in a user’s profile. A user’s entry code must be unique within the organization. An entry code can be used as a standalone credential when a door is not in a Card+Code schedule, in addition to being used as a second factor when the door is in a Card+Code schedule.

Access Level API

Our new access level API lets organizations programmatically pull updates to the doors, schedule, or groups components of an access level from third-party software, eliminating the need to make these changes manually in Command.

For example, a university using classroom scheduling software can automatically have a change in class location or time pushed from their software to Command, ensuring that all information in Command reflects the current status in the scheduling software, and that the correct people retain access to the right room at the right times.

Door Exceptions API

Organizations that use third-party scheduling software can now use our new door exceptions API to programmatically change door locked / unlocked / access controlled schedules without having to manually enter updates in Command.

For example, a university using classroom scheduling software can easily create a door exception event in Command via the API to ensure that all classrooms remain locked during a holiday break.

New Door Exceptions Calendar

The new door exceptions calendar lets you easily overlay exception events on the normal door schedule, allowing you to create one-off schedule exceptions. It also lets you only make changes to the portion of the door’s normal schedule that you want to adjust, rather than having to re-create that door’s full-day schedule from scratch. Events can also be copied or made to automatically repeat.

SCIM-Synced Access Credentials

Customers can now use our Okta and Entra ID SCIM integrations to automatically tie physical credential information (keycards or fobs) to users in Verkada Command, allowing your SSO provider to serve as the single source of truth. One credential can be synced per user.

Updated Access Control Management Roles & Permissions

A completely new set of access control roles will better support organizations that need to delegate and distribute access control-related responsibilities. Now, permissions can be given by granting roles in three independent categories.

  • System roles, which are set at the org level and control things like access control devices, door schedules, and more.

  • User roles, which are set at the org level and control things like user groups and credentials.

  • Site roles, which grant control over things like access control devices and settings on a per-site basis.

Cross-Site Access Levels

Admins can now more easily use sites to organize their Verkada deployments with access levels that can span multiple sites.

User Profile Photo APIs

We are launching a new API to automate the syncing of user profile photos from their user system of record. Additionally, for customers that use Verkada as their source of truth for users, we’re introducing an API to download user profile photos so they can be synced to another platform.

EV3 Encrypted Fobs

As an additional access credential type, Verkada now offers DESFire EV3 encrypted fobs. Like our EV3 cards, these fobs ensure your organization’s data stays secure, while providing a convenient and small form-factor physical access method for your employees.
