Official Rules
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO NOMINATE OR WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.
The Verkada Safety Champion Awards Program (the “Contest”) starts on April 30, 2026 at 12:00 PM Pacific Time (“PT”) and ends on June 30, 2026 at 11:59 PM PT (“Contest Period”). The Contest will consist of three (3) individual award categories; (i) the Impact Award; (ii) the AI Transformation Award; and (iii) the School Safety Excellence Award. Each award category has its own nominator and nominee eligibility criteria, as outlined further below.
VERKADA IMPACT AWARD ELIGIBILITY: The Verkada Impact Award recognizes an individual who has made a positive, tangible impact on the safety and security of their organization and/or community. As of the date of nomination, “Nominators” must (i) be legal residents of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia, 18 years of age or older; and (ii) have a personal or professional connection to the individual they intend to nominate. As of the date of nomination, “Nominees” must (i) be legal residents of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia, 18 years of age or older; and (ii) have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a security or safety-focused role within their organization or community which may include developing new safety, crisis response, or security technologies, strategies, or training programs that have led to measurable outcomes such as reduced incidents, including but not limited to theft, facility lockdowns, unauthorized access, vandalism, or personal injury. An eligible Nominator may nominate themselves, provided they comply with the Nominee eligibility requirements above.
VERKADA AI TRANSFORMATION AWARD ELIGIBILITY: The AI Transformation Award recognizes a Verkada customer who has leveraged Verkada’s AI-powered technology in a novel way to enhance safety or operational efficiency within their organization and/or community. As of the date of nomination, “Nominators” must (i) be legal residents of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia, 18 years of age or older; and (ii) have a personal or professional connection to the individual they intend to nominate. As of the date of nomination, “Nominees” must (i) be legal residents of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia, 18 years of age or older; (ii) be a Verkada customer; and (iii) have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a security-focused role within their organization or community, with at least one (1) year of experience in their current position, that has led to measurable outcomes, such as reduced incidents, theft, or risk. An eligible Nominator may nominate themselves, provided they comply with the Nominee eligibility requirements above.
VERKADA SCHOOL SAFETY EXCELLENCE AWARD ELIGIBILITY: The School Safety Excellence Award recognizes a school or university that has taken an innovative approach to addressing security challenges, emergency preparedness, and student wellbeing. As of the date of nomination, “Nominators” must (i) be legal residents of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia, 18 years of age or older; and (ii) have a personal or professional connection to the school or university they intend to nominate. As of the date of nomination, “Nominees” must (i) be an accredited school, school district, university, or educational institution in the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia with more than 500 enrolled students; (ii) be a Verkada customer; and (iii) be holding full-time in-person classes at the time of nomination. For the avoidance of doubt, remote, virtual, and online schools and universities are NOT eligible to be nominated for this award.
Employees of Verkada Inc. (“Sponsor”), the Security Industry Association, their parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, distributors, suppliers, and advertising and promotion agencies, and members of their immediate families (spouse, parent, child, sibling and their respective spouses, regardless of where they reside) and those living in their households, whether or not related, are not eligible to be Nominators or Nominees. This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws. This Contest is void where prohibited. Eligible Nominators and their Nominees must meet the applicable eligibility criteria specified above at time award is to be provided. In the event of a dispute, final determination of a Nominator’s or Nominee’s eligibility to participate in this Contest will be determined by Sponsor, in their sole discretion.
It is the collective responsibility of each Nominator and Nominee to understand the Nominee’s employment, school or university policies regarding participation in promotions such as this. The provision of any award available to a Nominee, their school or university in this Contest will be subject to such policies. If, for whatever reason, any Nominee, school or university is unable to accept an award due to employment, school or university policies or for any other reason, the applicable award may be forfeited or donated to a charitable organization of Sponsor’s choosing, and Sponsor will have no further obligation to such Nominator or Nominee.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE: During the Contest Period, Nominators may visit www.verkada.com/safety-champion-awards and follow the instructions to complete and submit the provided online entry form, which includes responses to the following prompts specific to the applicable category;
Verkada Impact Award:
Describe a challenge that the Nominee’s organization and/or community faced and the role that the Nominee played in overcoming it. Where possible, discuss how an innovative use of new technology was relevant.
Describe the overall impact the Nominee has made on the safety of their organization and/or community in the past year. Please include details about the Nominee’s role in their organization and how their impact extends into the broader community.
Please outline 2-3 specific examples of how the Nominee had a direct impact in making their organization and/or community safer and more secure. Where possible, include metrics or other proof points to help quantify the impact.
Tangible metrics, examples, and/or proof points are recommended to strengthen nominations.
Verkada AI Transformation Award:
Describe a security or operational challenge that the Nominee’s organization and/or community faced and how the Nominee leveraged Verkada’s AI-powered technology in overcoming it.
Describe the overall impact the Nominee’s new AI-powered processes or practices have had on the safety or operational efficiency of their organization and/or community in the past year. Please include details about the Nominee’s role. Where possible, include metrics or other proof points to help quantify the impact.
Describe organizational hurdles faced during the implementation and explain how the Nominee’s leadership and advocacy in driving the cultural adoption of AI-powered technology inspired others to embrace modern safety and operational standards.
Please attach links to any footage (e.g., security footage, video clips, photographs) you have permission to share that supports your application.
Tangible metrics, examples, and/or proof points are recommended to strengthen nominations.
Verkada School Safety Excellence Award:
Describe a challenge the Nominee school or university faced and how it overcame it. Where possible, include an innovative use of new technology.
Describe how the Nominee school or university fosters a healthy and safe environment for students and staff as a part of its overall approach to campus safety. Where possible, include an innovative use of new technology or security solutions.
Please outline 2-3 examples of how the Nominee school or university improved the security of its campus and community. This can include proactive measures as well as effective incident response. Where possible, include metrics or other proof points to help quantify the impact.
Tangible metrics, examples, and/or proof points are recommended to strengthen nominations.
Entries must be received by 11:59 PM PT on June 30, 2026 to be considered. Nominators are limited to submitting one (1) entry per Nominee for each category throughout the Contest Period. Entries received in excess of the above stated limitation will be void. Nominators are permitted to nominate multiple Nominees in each category, provided the Nominees are eligible and the Nominators comply with the limitation specified above.
Each Nominator represents and warrants their entry is the original work of such Nominator, it has not been copied from others and it does not violate the rights of any other person or entity. Entries with incomplete or erroneous information, entries generated by script, macro or other automated or mechanical means and entries made by any means which subvert the entry process, are void.
REQUIREMENTS OF ENTRIES: Entry may not contain, as determined by Sponsor, in its sole discretion, any content that:
is defamatory, obscene, or otherwise unlawful, sexually explicit or suggestive, unnecessarily violent or derogatory of any ethnic, racial, gender, religious, professional or age group, or profane or pornographic;
promotes illegal drugs, tobacco, firearms/weapons (or the use of any of the foregoing);
promotes any activities that may appear unsafe or dangerous;
promotes any particular political agenda or message;
is obscene or offensive, or endorses any form of hate or hate group;
defames, misrepresents or contains disparaging remarks about other people, or companies;
contains intellectual property owned by others, without proper permission, or contains any personal identification, such as license plate numbers, street addresses or e-mail addresses;
contains materials embodying the names, likenesses, voices, or other indicia identifying any person, including, without limitation, celebrities, athletes or other public or private figures, living or dead, without proper permission;
communicates messages or images inconsistent with the positive images or good will of Sponsor;
duplicates any other entry in violation of these Official Rules; or
violates any law.
By participating, each Nominator covenants, warrants and represents that such Nominator’s entry is the original work of the Nominator, has not been previously published, has not won previous awards, and does not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, rights of privacy, publicity or other intellectual property or other rights of any person or entity. By submitting an entry, each Nominator – and, by accepting an award, each Nominee award recipient (if applicable) – covenants, warrants and represents that Nominator and any persons identifiable in the entry (including but not limited to the Nominee) consent to the submission and use of the entry in the Contest and to its use, exploitation and exhibition and any other action of Sponsor with respect to the entry as set forth herein.
By submitting an entry, each Nominator and Nominee hereby grants permission for the entry to be posted on Sponsor’s company website, social and digital properties or other websites. Nominator agrees that Released Parties (as defined below) are not responsible for any unauthorized use of entries by third parties. Released Parties do not guarantee the posting of any entry and may remove a posted entry at any time.
By submitting an entry, each Nominator acknowledges and agrees that (a) Sponsor may obtain many entries in connection with the Contest or other contests staged or promoted by Sponsor, (b) such entries may be similar or identical in theme, idea, format or other respects to other entries submitted in connection with the Contest or entries for other contests sponsored by Sponsor or submitted for other reasons or other materials developed by or on behalf of Sponsor and (c) Nominator waives any and all claims they may have had, may have, or may have in the future that any entry or other works accepted, reviewed or used by Sponsor may be similar to Nominator’s entry, or that any compensation is due to Nominator in connection with such entry or other works used by Sponsor.
EVALUATION AND JUDGING CRITERIA TO DETERMINE AWARD RECIPIENTS: Following the conclusion of the Contest Period, all eligible entries received for each category will be evaluated and judged based equally on the criteria outlined below specific to each category;
Verkada Impact Award:
Innovation: Nominee’s implementation of innovative technologies, processes, or practices that have enhanced security or safety capabilities and outcomes at their organization;
Transformation: Nominee’s contribution to a measurable and noteworthy transformation of the business’s security practices in the past 12 months;
Advocacy: Nominee’s active promotion of the significance of safety and security within their organization or community through various communication methods/education; and
Community: Nominee’s demonstrated involvement in their community via participation in community organizations, local nonprofits, etc.
Verkada AI Transformation Award:
Innovation: Nominee’s use of Verkada’s AI-powered technology to create innovative processes or practices that have enhanced security/operational capabilities and outcomes;
Transformation: Nominee’s use of Verkada’s AI-powered technology to create a measurable and noteworthy impact on the business’s security or operational practices in the past 12 months; and
Champion for change: Nominee’s exceptional leadership and advocacy in driving the cultural adoption of Verkada’s AI-powered technology, successfully navigating organizational hurdles to inspire others to embrace modern safety and operational standards.
Verkada School Safety Excellence Award:
Innovation: Nominee’s implementation of innovative technologies, processes, or practices that have enhanced security capabilities and outcomes;
Health and Wellness: Nominee’s ability to approach safety holistically, promoting the overall well-being of the school community; and
Crisis and Incident Management and Response: Nominee’s ability to improve the readiness and response to emergencies, including natural disasters, medical emergencies, and security incidents.
The one (1) entry from each category with the highest score will be deemed a potential award recipient, subject to verification and compliance with these Official Rules. In the event of any tie, an additional “tie-breaking” judge selected by the Sponsor will determine the award recipient(s) from among those tied based on the applicable criteria set forth herein. There will be a limit of one (1) award per Nominee throughout the Contest.
AWARD RECIPIENT NOTIFICATION: The potential award recipients (both the applicable Nominator and Nominee) will be notified by email, phone and/or mail and will be required (i) to complete an Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability and Publicity Release (unless prohibited by law), (ii) to provide a headshot photo of themselves, and (iii) to execute any other documents required by Sponsor, which must be returned within five (5) days of the date appearing on the award recipient notification. With respect to the potential School Safety Excellence Award winning Nominee, an authorized representative at the school or university will be responsible for completing the requirements specified herein and must acknowledge their school or university is eligible and able to accept the award. Return of notification as undeliverable, failure to sign and return requested documentation within the specified time period, the inability of Sponsor to contact a potential award recipient within five (5) days of award recipient notification or noncompliance with these Official Rules by potential award recipient will result in disqualification and, at Sponsor’s sole discretion, a runner-up (the next highest scoring entry) for the applicable category may be selected as a potential award recipient. Note: The Nominator and Nominee of an applicable potential winning entry must both respond and comply with the requirements outlined above prior to being deemed a confirmed award recipient. Failure of the Nominator or Nominee of a selected potential winning entry to comply with the requirements above may result in the applicable entry being voided and the Nominator and Nominee being disqualified, and Sponsor will have no further obligation to the applicable Nominator and Nominee. Sponsor reserves the right to conduct background checks on potential award recipients (both the applicable Nominator and Nominee) after extending an initial award recipient notification without additional notice or further consent and potential award recipients agree to such background checks. Potential award recipients understand that Sponsor reserves the right to withdraw a potential award recipient’s eligibility to receive an award based on the results of the background checks.
For the avoidance of doubt, Nominators will not be eligible for awards. Unless a Nominator has nominated themselves (or their school or university) as an eligible Nominee and has been selected as a potential award recipient, the awards specified below will solely be awarded to selected Nominees.
VERKADA IMPACT AWARD (1): In addition to celebrating the award recipient during Verkada One, the Verkada Impact Award recipient will receive $15,000 awarded in the form of a check. Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”) of award: $15,000.00.
VERKADA AI TRANSFORMATION AWARD (1): In addition to celebrating the award recipient during Verkada One, the Verkada AI Transformation Award recipient will receive $10,000 awarded in the form of a check. ARV of award: $10,000.00.
VERKADA SCHOOL SAFETY EXCELLENCE AWARD (1): In addition to celebrating the award recipient during Verkada One, the Verkada School Safety Excellence Award will be awarded directly in the name of the school or university, which will receive $50,000 in Verkada products and associated software licenses for use at the school or university. Alternatively, the school or university receiving the Verkada School Safety Excellence Award may elect to transfer the award in its entirety to a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization of their choosing, subject to Sponsor approval. ARV of award: $50,000.00. Exact Verkada products available to be awarded will be determined by Sponsor, in their sole discretion. Installation and future maintenance of Verkada products not provided.
AWARD CONDITIONS: Award recipients may not take only a portion of an award and may not substitute, assign or transfer award (unless explicitly referenced above), but Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to substitute an award with one of comparable or greater value. Award recipients are solely responsible for all applicable federal, state, and local taxes. All costs and expenses associated with the award acceptance and use not specified herein as being provided are the sole responsibility of the award recipients.
OTHER CONDITIONS: Released Parties (as defined below) are not responsible for incomplete, inaccurate, lost, late, stolen, garbled, undelivered, or misdirected entries or for inaccurate entry or Contest information or for interrupted or unavailable network, server or other connections, miscommunications, computer or software malfunctions or telephone transmission problems or technical failures, garbled transmissions, damage to a user’s computer equipment, programming used in this Contest, or for computer, network, mechanical, electronic, printing, typographical, human or other error or problem relating to or in connection with the contest, including, without limitation, errors or problems which may occur in connection with the administration of the Contest, the announcement of the awards, the processing or judging of entries or in any Contest-related materials and any acts or events. Neither Sponsor nor anyone acting on its behalf will enter into any communications with any Nominator or Nominee regarding this Contest prior to the conclusion of the Contest Period.
GENERAL: By participating, each Nominator and Nominee agrees (a) to release, discharge and hold harmless Sponsor, the Security Industry Association, and their respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, retailers, advertising and promotion agencies, and any other individuals engaged in any way in the development, production, printing, distribution or execution of this contest, and the respective directors, officers, agents and employees of the foregoing (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from and against any liability, claims, losses and damages arising out of or relating to their participation in this Contest or the acceptance, use, misuse or possession of any award received in this Contest, and the Released Parties’ use of any entry; (b) to abide by these Official Rules and decisions of Sponsor and judges which shall be final and binding in all respects; and (c) that each Nominator and Nominee grants to Sponsor and its designees a paid-up worldwide license to use (unless prohibited by applicable law) Nominator and Nominee’s name, voice, city, and state of residence, photographs and/or likeness for purposes of advertising, promotional and/or any other purpose in any media now or hereafter known throughout the world in perpetuity without limitation or additional compensation, notification or permission, except where prohibited by law; and, upon request, to provide consent to such use in writing. Released Parties disclaim any liability for damage to any computer system resulting from participation in, or accessing, uploading or downloading information in connection with this Contest. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to modify or terminate the Contest (or any portion thereof) should any virus, bug, technical failures, fraud, unauthorized human intervention or other causes corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness or proper conduct of the Contest, and, in the event of termination, suspension or cancellation, at its discretion, to void the entries at issue and/or terminate, cancel or suspend the Contest and, if terminated, in Sponsor’s discretion, to select award recipients from all eligible, non-suspect entries received for each category prior to such termination using the judging procedure set forth above. In the event of any such termination, cancellation or suspension, a notice will be posted on www.verkada.com/safety-champion-awards. Any attempt by any person to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operation of this contest may be a violation of criminal and civil laws. Should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify such person and void suspect entries and seek damages and other remedies (including attorneys’ fees) from him/her to the fullest extent permitted by law.
LICENSE/USE OF ENTRIES: By submitting an entry, and to the extent allowed by law, Nominators, and by accepting an award, applicable Nominees, grant the Released Parties a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, sub licensable, unconditional and transferable license to edit, modify, cut, rearrange, add to, delete from, reproduce, encode, store, modify, copy, transmit, publish, post, broadcast, display, adapt, exhibit and/or otherwise use or reuse their entry, name, photo, essay, and biographical material including, but not limited to, all materials submitted in connection with the Contest in any and all media, throughout the world, and in any manner, for trade, advertising, promotional, commercial, or any other purposes without further review, notice, approval, consideration, or compensation to Nominator, Nominee or any third party.
ARBITRATION: Except where prohibited by law, as a condition of participating in this Contest, Nominator agrees that (1) any and all disputes and causes of action arising out of or connected with this contest, or any awards awarded, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by final and binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association and held at the AAA regional office nearest the Sponsor; (2) the Federal Arbitration Act shall govern the interpretation, enforcement and all proceedings at such arbitration; and (3) judgment upon such arbitration award may be entered in any court having jurisdiction over the parties. Under no circumstances will Nominator be permitted to obtain awards for, and Nominator hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental or consequential damages, or any other damages, including attorneys' fees, other than Nominator 's actual out-of-pocket expenses (i.e., costs associated with participating in this Contest), and Nominator further waives all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.
CHOICE OF LAW: All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of Nominator and Sponsor in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the substantive laws of the State of California, USA.
AWARD RECIPIENT’S NAMES: For the names of the award recipients (available after September 8, 2026) visit verkada.com/safety-champion-awards no later than October 17, 2026.
