The AC42 is an all-in-one access control unit that is designed to work with all standard door hardware and most readers. The AC42 allows customers to upgrade their system to Verkada by simply replacing their existing Access Control panels. Every component of the AC42 is designed to make it faster for installers to connect doors and enable customers to better manage and troubleshoot doors across their organization. A backup battery is also available to power the unit in the event of power loss.

With the Verkada AC42, users can bring plug–and–play simplicity to managing doors and access across their organization. The AC42 access controller works with your building’s existing door hardware, readers, fire alarm systems, as well as Verkada card readers. Once doors are connected, all doors are ready to be managed from any device via Verkada Command.

The AC42 is built on Verkada’s hybrid cloud architecture, balancing the best of on-device security with the scalability and connectivity of the cloud. The AC42 features storage and compute capabilities, and securely caches all events, settings, and door lock schedules on-device. In the event of an internet outage, the device will continue to function. Additionally, you can deploy the AC42 with the ACC–BAT–4A to power all connected doors – both wet or dry – in the event of a power outage.

Verkada’s AC42 integrates natively with other Verkada products including Cameras, Alarms and Intercom. With the AC42, you can natively pair doors and security cameras to instantly get video security context on all access events including badge scans, door opens, and door tampering. With Verkada Alarms, you can trigger building lockdowns in response to alarm triggers like panic buttons. With Intercoms, you can receive intercom calls and unlock doors from Command, the Verkada Pass app and the Verkada Desk Station.

With Verkada Access Control, the only hardware you need is an access controller such as the AC42 or our 16-door AC62, and door locking / unlocking hardware such as maglocks, card readers and wireless door locks. Once connected, you can manage building access, schedules, and users directly in Verkada Command – no additional servers, databases or configurations needed.
