Verkada offers alerts that can detect specific activities like an individual moving, crossing a line, or loitering in an area. Now with compound alerts, organizations can narrow down the results based on their specific use cases.
Compound alerts allow users to get notified only when multiple alert conditions are met. Here’s how it works:
First, a customer selects the initial condition. This can be based on:
Person detection
Line crossing
Loitering
Then, the customer has additional options to filter the scenario down further. These “filters” can include:
Person of interest
People list
Smart list
Custom AI query (like “person not wearing high visibility vest” or “person with face fully covered”)

For example, a manufacturer may require employees to wear hard hats near heavy machinery. They don’t want to get notified every time someone gets close to the machine – that would be far too many alerts. Similarly, they don’t want to get alerted if someone is not wearing their hard hat, because employees don’t need one on the rest of the manufacturing floor.
Now, with compound alerts, an alert can be set up to trigger only if a person gets close to a machine and they don’t have their hard hat on.
Other examples of alerting capabilities that can be configured with compound alerts include:
Get notified when a smart list detects an unknown individual that is also loitering in a secure area
Get notified when a person is detected carrying a large bag and crosses a line to enter a store
Availability
Compound alerts will be available to all Command organizations on March 30, 2026 and can be configured on all Cxx2 and Cxx3 series cameras.
