Simplifying Enterprise Security with Unified User Management and Custom Site Roles

Managing security for large organizations is a difficult balancing act. When an organization operates across multiple locations, there could be hundreds of employees who need access to the system. Managing who has access to what becomes a massive administrative burden, especially because oftentimes an individual requires specific levels of Command access that do not perfectly align with standard settings. This makes default permissions feel clunky and forces administrators to over-provision access just so an individual can perform a single task outside the scope of their default role.

Today, we are announcing two major updates to Command designed to make this process easier, more centralized, and customizable: unified user and group pages as well as custom site roles. These updates ensure that administrators can easily track, assign, and customize permissions so users have exactly what they need to do their jobs.

A Single Pane of Glass for Permissions

Previously, managing user permissions required navigating across product settings pages. Now, Command features a dedicated landing page for organizations to track user and group permissions from a single, centralized dashboard.

This redesigned interface acts as a single pane of glass, allowing administrators to see exactly what permissions each user has at a glance. From these unified pages, administrators can easily review access levels, monitor responsibilities, and assign custom roles directly to individuals or entire groups. This streamlines the administrative experience, drastically reducing the time it takes to manage personnel while ensuring access rights remain secure and consistent.

Custom Site Roles for Video Security and Workplace

While centralized visibility is useful, effective security requires precision at the local level. Often, standard default roles force administrators to grant broad access to staff who only need to manage a few specific tasks, creating unnecessary security gaps.

With custom site roles, administrators can now configure highly tailored Video Security and Workplace permissions at the site level. This ensures that Command users are given only the exact tools and access they need to perform their daily duties. Today, we are providing this functionality in our Video Security and Workplace product lines, and plan to roll it out to the remainder of our product lines in the coming months.

New Custom Role Creation

To maintain complete transparency and control, administrators can click into any custom role to view a clear breakdown of the associated permissions, the users assigned to that role, and any groups that hold the role.

These updates to user and role management offer organizations powerful ways to streamline permissions for organizations of any size — moving from broad, rigid roles to centralized management with site-level precision.
