Security cameras act as the “eyes” of any security system. But just like human eyes, they have their limitations. Picking out a subject wearing dark clothing at night, identifying movement among foliage, or seeing through inclement weather can prove challenging.
That’s why we’re excited to announce our upcoming new thermal camera series. The CTB63 Dual-Spectrum Thermal Bullet Camera captures a crystal-clear, 4K video feed and a high-resolution thermal feed, simultaneously.
People and vehicles give off unique heat signatures, which are invisible to the naked eye or conventional IR cameras and cannot be hidden by environmental conditions or partial obstructions. Because of this, the CTB63 can reliably identify people and vehicles in low-light environments, through bushes, or in adverse weather conditions. Thermal cameras can also detect people and vehicles at much greater distances than standard cameras (even with long-range IR), helping to strengthen perimeter protection.
Record Clear and Detailed Thermal Footage
Many thermal cameras operate at low frame rates and resolutions, resulting in a choppy and pixelated video feed. We designed the CTB63 to match the high-quality, detailed footage our customers count on from existing Verkada cameras.
The CTB63 captures thermal images with 640x480 resolution, all while running at up to 30 frames per second. The thermal sensor has a thermal sensitivity up to <25mK (noise equivalent temperature difference (NETD)), allowing it to pick out minute temperature differences in an image. The result is a smooth, high-resolution thermal stream to pair with the device’s 4K standard feed.
Gain Temperature Insights and Leverage Thermal Analytics
When viewing live or historical thermal footage, users can check the temperature at a specific point within the thermal camera’s field of view, or draw a rectangular zone and measure the minimum, maximum, and average temperatures within this region. Customizable temperature alerts can also be configured to deliver proactive notifications when an object in the camera’s field of view deviates from expected values.
We’ve also extended advanced analytics to the thermal stream itself. Set up alerts for people or vehicles detected by the thermal imager, or configure line crossing alerts to catch unauthorized entry along fences, gates, and other property boundaries.
Customize Your Thermal Feed With Dynamic Color Palettes
The CTB63 offers six different thermal color palettes, allowing organizations to tailor their thermal view to maximize visibility based on use case and environmental conditions. For example, the white hot palette makes it easier to visually identify people and vehicles within the thermal imager’s field of view, while the high isotherm (HI) palette highlights hotspots for temperature monitoring use cases.
Because the thermal imager on the CTB63 captures raw temperature data, switching between the six color palettes is seamless. Users can toggle through each option live without interrupting the stream, or apply them to historical footage to customize their view long after recording.
Leverage Both Camera Feeds Simultaneously
Within Command, users can view the camera’s 4K stream directly alongside the thermal stream. This combined view preserves valuable visual context while also allowing organizations to leverage powerful analytics like people and vehicle attributes, AI-powered unified timeline, and AI-powered activity detection.
Choose Your Field of View and Deploy Quickly
The CTB63 is offered in both wide-angle and telephoto versions. The wide-angle CTB63-E is optimal for monitoring large areas, while the CTB63-TE provides detailed coverage of more distant areas of interest.
The CTB63 is easy to deploy and a single PoE cable (capable of supplying PoE++ power) supports both streams. Its IP66/67 weather rating and IK10 impact rating enable it to withstand demanding environments. The device includes a mounting plate and attaches seamlessly to existing Verkada camera mounts, making it easy to install in a variety of locations.
