Verkada Achieves FedRAMP In Process Status at the Moderate Impact Level
Advancing Our Commitment to Government Agencies
We’re excited to share that Verkada Command, hosted in AWS GovCloud, has been designated FedRAMP Moderate In Process by the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP®). As of July 24, 2025, Verkada has secured a federal agency sponsor for FedRAMP. With this sponsorship, Fortreum—our accredited Third-Party Assessment Organization (3PAO)—will conduct a detailed security assessment in the second half of 2025. We anticipate achieving FedRAMP Moderate Authorization (ATO) within 12 months, supporting federal agencies and contractors in aligning with FISMA and OMB mandates for using FedRAMP-authorized cloud services in next-generation physical security deployments.
This milestone builds on our FedRAMP Ready designation from July 2024, advancing from initial security validation to a full, in-depth review with our sponsoring agency. It also underscores Verkada’s alignment with federal initiatives emphasizing secure, cloud-based solutions built on Zero Trust principles and proactive threat mitigation.
What is FedRAMP In Process?
The Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) standardizes security assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring for cloud services used by U.S. federal agencies.
Our In Process designation follows the successful completion of an independent Readiness Assessment Report (RAR) as part of our FedRAMP Ready status. This next phase represents a deeper evaluation of Verkada’s security, privacy, and compliance controls in partnership with our sponsoring agency, bringing us closer to full authorization.
FedRAMP In Process Products
Verkada’s FedRAMP In Process designation currently applies to the Command Platform hosted in AWS GovCloud, which includes:
FIPS 140 validated cameras (Video Security)
Verkada Guest (Visitor Management)
These offerings are designed for public sector environments and help agencies modernize their physical security posture while adhering to regulatory standards, such as Executive Orders on cybersecurity and FY2019 NDAA compliance requirements.
What’s Next for Verkada and FedRAMP?
The In Process designation is an important milestone on our journey toward full FedRAMP Moderate Authorization. Over the coming months, we will continue working closely with our sponsoring agency and Fortreum to complete the required assessment and advance toward Authorization to Operate (ATO).
As we progress, Verkada remains committed to supporting federal agencies and contractors with secure, compliance-ready physical security solutions. Our offerings are accessible through major government procurement channels, including GSA Schedule, NASA SEWP V, ITES-SW2, Carahsoft, and many existing socio-economic partner vehicles, making it easy for agencies to adopt modern, cloud-based security solutions.
