At Verkada, our mission is to protect people and property in a way that respects individuals' privacy. We operate the world’s largest cloud-based physical security platform and maintain seven hardware product lines: security cameras, door-based access control, air quality sensors, alarms, intercoms, guest, and mailroom management. Customers around the world — including schools, hospitals, warehouses, and retail stores — trust us to keep their people and property safe and secure every day.
Maintaining our platform and products is a complex task. Verkada engineers build systems, machine learning models, and computer vision frameworks that balance a mixture of edge and cloud computing while optimizing for latency, bandwidth, and speed. Our infrastructure is vast and complex — we manage millions of CPU cores around the world — but we stay relentlessly focused on keeping the customer experience simple and easy to use.

We've achieved all of this scale and maintained high-quality products, in part, by empowering small teams of individuals with a high degree of ownership and autonomy. One of the advantages of working at Verkada is that we provide the benefits of larger, established players — while also enabling engineers to make an immediate, tangible impact on the product and organization.
Over the past twelve months, our team has more than doubled in size. We want this new crop of employees to connect with the values we established when the company was much smaller. To that end, we’ve asked team members to share what each of these values means to them — and how they are applied in practice here at Verkada. Looking ahead, these values will continue to guide us and help us stay true to our mission as we continue to grow.
