Today, we are expanding that versatility with two new updates: third-party ACU reader integration via OSDP and formal certification from Zoom as a Zoom Phone Interop-certified device.
Reader to Third-Party ACU via OSDP
Onboard readers on Verkada Intercoms are now compatible with third-party access control units (ACUs), offering even more flexibility to integrate Verkada Intercoms into existing infrastructure. By enabling the intercom’s built-in reader to communicate directly with existing controllers via the OSDP protocol, organizations can deliver a modern visitor experience with high-quality calls and analytics while maintaining their established security logic and infrastructure.
When a user scans a low-frequency prox card or enters a PIN code at the intercom, it captures the credential and forwards it to the third-party ACU. Once the third-party ACU receives the credential, it evaluates the permissions assigned to that credential and makes the unlock decision.
The addition of third-party ACU support provides a clear migration path for organizations looking to modernize their entry points, offering a scalable solution that bridges the gap between legacy hardware and next-generation systems. Reader to third-party ACU will be available for the TD53 and TD63 intercoms.
Zoom Phone Interop Certification
We are excited to announce that Verkada Intercoms are now formally Zoom Phone Interop-certified. While our intercoms have long supported SIP-based communication with Zoom, this official certification represents a new level of reliability and partnership, helping ensure that Verkada Intercoms meet Zoom’s rigorous standards for audio quality, connection stability, and security protocols. This means a more streamlined deployment process and access to platform-specific technical support: both Verkada and Zoom teams are now equipped to provide more precise troubleshooting, helping maintain open and secure communication at every intercom.
