To protect and manage your facilities, you need to understand the physical spaces themselves: the location of a room, what streets are around a building, and how devices are positioned within it. Verkada built floorplans in Command, but the feature has limitations - it is hard to gauge scale, position devices on the plan, and see where the building sits relative to what's around it.
Verkada has also expanded what you can protect beyond a building's walls. Trailers now protect parking lots. Cameras mount on perimeter fence lines. Understanding your spaces means understanding what's around a building, not just what's inside it.
So we started from scratch, building the most powerful, user-friendly way to view your entire physical security deployment and its surroundings. Today, we're excited to introduce maps: a new feature in Command that gives you a dynamic digital twin of your facilities.
Your Buildings Brought to Life
With maps, Command provides a global view of your organization. The first step is entering the addresses of your locations. After locations are set, each site can then be displayed on a globe, or easily found in a filterable list. Select a site, and in addition to the building floorplan, you'll see the physical context surrounding your building, including roads, parking lots, and other landmarks – making it easy to orient yourself at a site you’re less familiar with.
Zoom into the building itself, and you'll find a true digital copy of your space, perfectly to scale, with walls, doors, and windows all accounted for. Stairs, elevators, hallways, and rooms are clearly labeled, so wayfinding is faster and easier.
Every Device, Accurately Placed
On maps, you can add nearly all of your Verkada devices to a single view. Camera coverage cones adjust for walls, making it easy to accurately visualize your blind spots. For example, a camera cannot see through a wall, but it can see across hallways – giving users an accurate field of view (FOV) for their video security deployments. You can also mark the location of critical safety assets like AEDs and fire extinguishers.
All of this is visible in both 2D and 3D, giving users the ability to toggle into the right view for the task. Use 2D for quick reference — like viewing all devices in a room. Switch to 3D to walk through your space and see it as it exists in the real world, from a camera's coverage to where an intercom sits on the wall.
Your Maps Put to Work
Maps also let you monitor events as they happen, right on the map. Instead of scrolling through a list of alerts, you can see events at their exact location — a door forced open, a person detected after hours, a motion alert from a parking lot camera. And because access control lives on the map too, you can act immediately: remotely unlock a door or adjust its schedule right from the same view, without switching screens.
When an event comes in, the relevant device highlights and shows a live preview of what triggered it, so you know what happened and where without leaving the map. This makes it easy to keep maps open for passive monitoring – whether you're at a desktop, on a VX52 Viewing Station, or checking in from the Command mobile app.

Getting started takes minutes, not months. Give us whatever you have — a simple PDF, or even an old blueprint from your architect — and we'll digitize it for you, completely free. We'll make sure everything is accurate and to scale, and we'll add every room label, fire extinguisher location, and other key details along the way. If we miss anything, you have full edit access to fine-tune it yourself.
Availability
Maps is available on desktop, mobile, and VX52. Beta access opens in October, with general availability following later in 2026. Existing Verkada floorplan users will be migrated automatically.
