Introducing the AW33 Wireless Access Controller

Product News
Sep 16, 2026

Since launching our first wireless lock in 2025, many organizations have relied on them to quickly and seamlessly extend access control deeper into their facilities, securing interior doors and hard-to-wire spaces without the hassle of traditional cabling.

Today, we are taking that even further with the introduction of the AW33 Wireless Access Controller, which makes it even easier to deploy wireless locks by combining a PoE-powered access controller and an integrated VLink wireless hub into a single, all-in-one device.

Historically, deploying wireless locks required pairing an AC12 Access Controller with a WH32 Wireless Hub using dedicated RS-485 serial cabling. The AW33 consolidates these two core components into one unit. By building the VLink wireless hub directly into the controller, installers no longer need to pull RS-485 wiring between separate devices; a single PoE connection powers the AW33 and brings locks online instantly.

Engineered for Ease of Installation

By unifying a controller and wireless hub into a single unit, the AW33 simplifies wireless locks installations by providing lock connectivity and wireless range without requiring separate hardware or cabling:

  • Faster deployments: Organizations can streamline installation with a single device designed to connect and control AL54 wireless locks. With no extra wiring needed between the controller and locks, installers can bring doors online in a fraction of the time.

  • Lower total cost of ownership: Consolidating the controller and wireless hub into a single unit significantly reduces cabling expenses, labor hours, and ongoing maintenance costs. The built-in battery backup and secondary LTE failover help reduce costly downtime and service disruptions, helping minimize operational costs.

  • Broad wireless coverage: The AW33 maintains the full range and performance of the WH32 hub without requiring separate hardware. The AW33 supports robust wireless connectivity within 150 feet of AL54 locks, which is ideal for standard office corridors, classrooms, and clinical settings. For installations requiring targeted wireless coverage toward specific structures, long hallways, or remote locations where routing RS-485 cabling is difficult, the AW33 can be configured with the optional ACC-WH-ANT-1 directional antenna accessory to focus connectivity in a single direction, rather than using the integrated omnidirectional antenna.

Continuous Uptime

The AW33 is engineered with built-in redundancies that help maintain continuous protection during power grid or network failures:

  • Battery and LTE backup: Built-in battery and cellular backup maximize lock uptime and system visibility, even if building power and local internet go offline. LTE backup capability requires a separate, additional license.

  • Built-in offline communication: If the primary network connection drops, the AW33 communicates directly over the local network with other controllers and panels. High-priority safety actions remain active and responsive locally, even during a network outage. Triggering a lockdown at a single device locks down doors site-wide, while credential processing and auxiliary outputs (such as alarm strobes or sirens) continue to run without relying on cloud connectivity.

From multi-building educational campuses to corporate offices, healthcare systems, and manufacturing sites, the AW33 makes it easier and more cost-effective for organizations to expand their physical security footprint. By removing installation friction, security teams can confidently extend wireless access control to every door that needs protection.
