Background
Mondiale VGL is a globally recognised transport and logistics provider, with roots in Oceania and operations in 19 markets. For more than 40 years, the company has helped businesses navigate global trade through deep expertise, strong carrier networks, and enduring customer partnerships. In Australia and New Zealand, Mondiale VGL stands apart for its investment in purpose-built infrastructure - including bonded container facilities, large-scale warehousing, in-house fumigation, and a fleet of more than 600 trucks and trailers. With six major sites across Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, Mondiale VGL delivers true end-to-end supply chain capability - from origin to final delivery.

The Challenge
As IT Operations Manager for Australia, Jane Galloway recognized the need to modernize their security infrastructure to better support operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
“We’re an ABF bonded site across Australia, so we must comply with regulations requiring 24/7 recording and 30-day footage retention,” explains Jane. “While compliance standards were being met, as our business grew, we needed to upgrade to a centralized system that was easy to operate, efficient to manage - and allowed us to respond to incidents faster.”
The Solution
After a thorough evaluation against competitors, Mondiale VGL selected Verkada for its ability to support ongoing compliance with ABF retention requirements while offering a unified platform. The decisive factor was video quality retention. Verkada maintained 24 frames per second throughout the entire retention period, a key factor was consistent video quality retention—while other providers offered 30-day storage, video resolution often suffered. Verkada maintained high-quality footage, supporting compliance obligations and internal investigations.

The rollout began with a pilot site before expanding to all six Australian locations, with the new Perth facility serving as a flagship deployment featuring the complete Verkada suite:
245 cameras including PTZ, LPR, 4-way, bullet, and fisheye models
Cloud-based access control with mobile credentials replacing problematic fingerprints
Video intercoms enabling remote communication with drivers
Integrated alarms with AI-powered alerts for unauthorized access
Analytics platform for vehicle tracking and safety monitoring
The Outcome
Consistent ABF Compliance
The transformation's immediate impact was ensuring faster response times to ABF requirements. The Australian Border Force periodically requests footage as part of routine compliance monitoring. What previously took extended time searching through multiple systems now takes minutes. "We're able to pinpoint that and look at it and provide them the information really easily," Jane explains, "Quick and easy access to footage has been valuable in supporting investigations."
Real-Time Monitoring
The unified Command platform revolutionized operations across all sites. "I literally can log into Command and I can see every camera and every site at any one time," says Galloway."Being here in Sydney and able to view real-time footage in Perth has been a game changer for our operations."
This centralization extends beyond monitoring. The health and safety team now performs regular camera checks across all sites remotely, ensuring clear views and proper coverage. Transport teams monitor yard activity in real-time, while administrators manage access permissions for thousands of staff and contractors from a single interface.

Operational Excellence Through Intelligence
Verkada's AI capabilities have unlocked new levels of efficiency:
LPR automation: Trucks entering the Perth facility are automatically identified and gates open without driver interaction
Safety alerts: Loitering detection monitors restricted hard stand areas where no personnel should be present for more than 60 seconds
Rapid investigations: AI search capabilities allow teams to find specific vehicles, identify PPE compliance, or locate individuals in minutes rather than hours
Predictive insights: Vehicle analytics track truck flow patterns, helping optimize yard operations

Transforming the Security Experience
The shift from legacy systems to a modern platform has been transformative. “Just the other day, someone messaged me asking to set up their fingerprints in Perth,” Jane recalls. “My colleague responded, ‘That’s old school - Perth now runs entirely through the app.’” The adoption of more intuitive, app-based technology has been welcomed across the organization.
Support has also seen a step change. “Verkada’s platform support is immediate. Once we provide a secure access token, the team can remotely log in” says Jane. “It’s been incredibly efficient - we haven’t encountered any major issues.”
Looking Ahead
With Perth demonstrating the full potential of Verkada's platform, Mondiale VGL is accelerating deployment across their other sites. Two major site upgrades are planned for 2025, replacing legacy access control systems and extending the unified platform nationwide.
“Perth has become our flagship site - the model for how we’re rolling this out across our wider operations,” says Jane. “I’m looking forward to seeing how the team responds to using Verkada Pass on the ground - it’s a significant step forward. The feedback so far has been really positive, and it’s already shaping expectations for what other sites can look forward to.”
As Mondiale VGL continues to expand, Verkada's scalable platform positions them to maintain security excellence while reducing operational complexity. Their 10-year camera warranty provides peace of mind for long-term planning, while continuous feature updates ensure they stay ahead of evolving security needs.
"Just do it," advises Galloway to others considering Verkada. "What are you waiting for? Get on board. It's a simple, easy-to-use, accessible platform that provides everything that we need from security, health and safety, and to keep us compliant. The ability to unlock doors and view camera footage from phones; and being able to access and control devices in Perth from Sydney—it's amazing."
