How VectorUSA Delivers Modern Security From the Network Up

With Curtis Paradzick, Vice President of Sales

The Partner

From shipping terminals and hospitals to schools, military installations and enterprise environments, VectorUSA designs, builds and manages the technology infrastructure that keeps complex operations connected and secure. Headquartered in Torrance, California, the privately held, founder-led company has operated for nearly four decades and employs approximately 370 people across markets throughout the United States.

VectorUSA serves a diverse customer base across state, local and education organizations, federal agencies, ports and logistics, healthcare and enterprise. The company brings especially deep expertise to complex environments, from shipping terminals and hospitals to schools, military installations and around-the-clock manufacturing facilities.

Curtis Paradzick, Vice President of Sales, has spent 16 years helping guide VectorUSA’s sales strategy and growth across these practice areas. The company originally entered physical security as cameras and other devices became IP-enabled endpoints on the network. That evolution played directly to VectorUSA’s core strengths in networking, cabling and infrastructure.

The Challenge

No two customer environments are alike, but many face the same challenge: outdated security systems that have evolved over time without a unified strategy. For VectorUSA, helping customers simplify that complexity starts with understanding how they operate before recommending the right solution.

A conventional upgrade can preserve the status quo, but it may do little to improve investigations or simplify operations. Customers that want advanced search, license plate recognition or other analytics often face additional servers, software, integrations and licensing fees. Large installed camera bases can also make an immediate rip-and-replace impractical.

The technology is only part of the challenge. Real-world deployments may require structural assessments for cameras mounted on light poles, solar connectivity, additional network capacity or specialized work around active industrial environments. VectorUSA’s role is to account for the complete operating environment, not simply provide a bill of materials.

Why Verkada?

VectorUSA did not adopt Verkada immediately. Its existing video platform used an open, on-premises architecture, and the team initially questioned whether a more closed platform could fit customers with hundreds of embedded cameras. But persistent outreach from the Verkada channel team prompted VectorUSA to evaluate the technology more closely.

“We sat down, looked at the tech very seriously from a technical evaluation perspective and said, ‘Wow.’” –Paradzick, VectorUSA

The platform’s intuitive software, integrated analytics and well-designed hardware ultimately outweighed VectorUSA’s early concerns. As Verkada introduced capabilities that made phased migrations easier, including support for bringing third-party cameras into Command, the opportunity expanded.

The channel relationship also proved different. Like many integrators, VectorUSA had heard manufacturers promise to bring partners new business. This time, the promise materialized. At the time of the interview, opportunities were split approximately evenly between business sourced by VectorUSA and business brought in through Verkada.

“Every manufacturing partner says, ‘We’ll bring you leads,’ and none of them do. Verkada actually does.” –Paradzick, VectorUSA

For VectorUSA, each new physical security customer can also become a broader technology relationship. Even after deploying cameras, access control, alarms and intercoms, the company can help the same customer with networking, wireless infrastructure and other IT needs. That makes the new customer relationship more valuable well beyond the initial deployment.

The Solution

A Southern California municipality presented a clear example. Its existing video servers were failing, and the initial plan centered on a roughly $500,000 upgrade to the incumbent system. VectorUSA already had the customer relationship and expected to win the project, but the team believed the customer should also see what a more modern approach could deliver.

VectorUSA brought Verkada into the evaluation despite estimating only a small chance of replacing the customer’s established direction. The customer required 365 days of video retention and had a sizable installed camera environment, making the transition more complex than a standard refresh.

The evaluation changed once the customer compared the complete capabilities. Matching Verkada’s built-in AI search, facial and license plate capabilities with the incumbent platform would have required additional servers, software and licenses. With those costs and operational requirements considered, the more comprehensive approach became increasingly compelling.

The customer ultimately selected a Verkada solution with an initial order valued at close to $2 million, followed by additional expansion because it offered the right long-term fit. VectorUSA then brought its infrastructure and implementation experience to the deployment, ensuring the solution accounted for the customer’s network, installation and operational requirements.

The Result: Expansion & Deeper Investments

By presenting a more comprehensive alternative, VectorUSA transformed what could have been a straightforward server refresh into a larger modernization initiative. The customer chose to invest substantially more than the original upgrade path because the selected solution delivered broader capabilities and a stronger foundation for the future.

The outcome also demonstrated how the partnership can create value for VectorUSA: bringing Verkada into an opportunity did not displace the integrator. It helped VectorUSA expand the project, deepen the customer relationship and deliver a solution aligned with the customer’s long-term goals.

Greater Independence & Ease of Use

The customer gained intuitive AI-powered tools that make it easier to search for people and vehicles across cameras. Instead of assembling separate servers, applications and licenses for each analytic capability, teams can investigate through one interface.

“I want to see everyone who had a red shirt on this camera. I want to see where this person showed up and I want to track them. It’s very intuitive. It’s not extra add-ons.” –Paradzick, VectorUSA

New Customers That Open the Door Wider

The approximately even split of jointly sourced opportunities has helped VectorUSA maintain steady growth with Verkada. More importantly, every new customer creates potential beyond physical security. VectorUSA can extend the relationship into networking, wireless, infrastructure and managed services. These are areas where its decades of experience provide additional value.

Customer response has reinforced that momentum. Paradzick said he could not recall a customer that completed a Verkada deployment with VectorUSA and concluded that the solution was not what they wanted. Ease of use, intuitive search and the integrated product design have helped create strong adoption after implementation.

Looking Ahead

VectorUSA and Verkada have continued refining how their teams work together, from rules of engagement and opportunity planning to technical education and customer support. VectorUSA has also provided product feedback from the field, particularly around alarms and intrusion detection, giving the company a voice in how new capabilities evolve.

The next major growth opportunity is federal. VectorUSA has already supported a Verkada trial at the Miramar Air Show and is pursuing broader opportunities across military and federal environments. With VectorUSA’s federal experience, infrastructure capabilities and turnkey deployment model, the company sees significant potential to bring modern physical security to a new set of complex customers.

What began with skepticism has become one of VectorUSA’s strongest manufacturing relationships, built on technology that proved itself, leads that became real opportunities and trust developed through shared execution. “We’ve grown with Verkada,” says Paradzick, “And I think Verkada’s grown with us.”
