Smart solutions for
Dorm security
Protect residence halls and simplify building access with a unified, cloud-based security platform.
Protect students and simplify building access
Secure dorms and reduce lockouts
Easily control building access with video intercoms that double as card readers, limiting entry to authorized residents. If a student loses their access credentials or needs assistance after hours, calls can be routed directly to on-duty staff for assistance. Plus, a built-in 5MP camera and clear two-way audio help verify students on the spot before granting entry.
Unlock doors with a phone or ID
Lost keys are expensive and time-consuming to replace. With mobile NFC credentials or the Verkada Pass app, students can enter residence halls using only their smartphones, while physical badges and EV3 fobs remain available for organizations that prefer standard credentials. For institutions using Atrium, Verkada access-controlled doors can also be unlocked with Atrium student ID cards.
Keep a digital record of guests
Document visitors and automatically screen against internal deny lists using Verkada Guest, helping ensure only authorized guests enter dorms. If an incident occurs, quickly see who was in the building, when they arrived, and who they were visiting. Meanwhile, speed up check-ins for previously approved guests with a QR code scan or facial recognition at the front desk.
Quickly investigate using AI
Simply type a description or upload an image to instantly retrieve footage from cameras placed in dorm courtyards or nearby streets. If a bike is stolen or a safety incident occurs, easily trace a person's journey across cameras and locations using AI-powered unified timeline, seeing their path on an interactive site map for faster investigations.
Seamlessly document incidents
Easily retrieve footage and archive incidents in Verkada Command — video clips are automatically sorted in chronological order, and shareable PDF reports can be generated in just one click. Share archived video evidence with campus police via SMS or a direct link to help accelerate case resolution. Higher education institutions own and control how their Verkada data is accessed, used, and shared. Learn more in our Trust Hub.
Supercharge operations across sites
Smarter access control, minus the costly wiring
Bring cloud-based access control to every dorm without the expense or hassle of wiring doors. Easily deploy Verkada wireless locks across residence halls, delivering flexible door entry methods, such as smartphone or badge unlock, remote door management and schedule enforcement – all from a single platform.
Scalable access management, less work for IT teams
Keep student dorm access up to date with a hassle-free, cloud-native platform. Automatically sync new users to Command via SCIM integration or bulk CSV import. Student access credentials can be seamlessly issued at move-in and automatically revoked at move-out, streamlining access management and lightening the load on IT.
Simplify delivery management
Track package drop-offs with a simple mobile scan and instantly notify residents via SMS or email when their packages arrive. Verkada Mailroom integrates seamlessly with video security, helping staff view live delivery activity and investigate lost packages using synchronized video playback.
