Every day, organizations worldwide field thousands of calls through Verkada Intercom. While these calls are often critical for secure visitor management, in some cases, they aren’t always the most efficient way to grant access—particularly when visits are pre-planned.
Think of technicians arriving for scheduled repairs, delivery drivers dropping off packages after hours, or frequent visitors who need to move through high-traffic areas without delay. In these scenarios, quick, call-free entry not only saves time but also reduces the burden placed on call receivers.
That’s why we’re excited to introduce Visit Key – a new way to conveniently, yet securely, provide visitors with temporary credentials through Verkada Intercom. With Visit Key, organizations can grant entry using a variety of digital credentials: license plates, web unlock links, or PIN codes (for the TD63 intercom).
We are also adding one more digital credential to the mix: QR codes. To gain entry, visitors simply need to scan their unique QR code at any Verkada video intercom.
Sharing and provisioning these credentials is effortless: there are no apps to download and no physical badges to commission. Visit Key is also built for security, allowing organizations to restrict access to specific times, days of the week, and even specific intercoms.
Simple Set-Up & Distribution
In Verkada Command, Intercom admins can create a temporary access key for each visitor in a few steps through the new “Visit Key” tab. Organizations can select which intercoms and credentials are to be used, set a valid schedule, and decide whether the key is single-use or reusable within that timeframe.

Distributing keys is just as straightforward. Organizations can send visitors a customized email or text message with a secure web link that contains all credentials. From this link, visitors can:
View the QR code they need to scan and add it to their mobile wallet
Press buttons on their mobile phone to remotely unlock specific doors tied to intercoms
See the license plate they can use for gate-based entry
Retrieve PIN codes to enter on the TD63 keypad
For QR code-based entry, visitors simply hold their QR code within one foot of the intercom camera. The system will scan and authenticate the code in about one second before the door unlocks.
Seamlessly Connected with the Verkada Platform
Visit Key works hand-in-hand with other Verkada products to streamline operations.
Verkada Guest: Verkada video intercoms will also be able to scan visitor check-in QR codes, eliminating extra steps at the Guest iPad.
Verkada Alarms: Visit Key can be used to disarm alarm systems, which is especially ideal for after-hours entry.
In the Visit Key tab, organizations will find a complete list of all keys, giving them instant visibility into which ones are active, when they were last used, and who created them.
With this new experience, organizations can provide quick and easy entry to visitors, free up their call receivers, and maintain precise control over every temporary credential issued.
Availability
Visit Key and support for QR codes as a credential will be available in Command in late October 2025 for all regions. To learn more, contact your Verkada sales representative at [email protected].
