Introducing AI-Powered Unified Timeline: A Groundbreaking Tool to Uncover the Full Story in Seconds
When an incident occurs, security teams begin the time-consuming task of tracking down relevant camera footage. Even after identifying a suspect, operators must search across multiple cameras to reconstruct their movements and find accomplices or associated vehicles. This experience is often disjointed and tedious, slowing response times and hindering investigations.
That’s why we’re excited to announce AI-Powered Unified Timeline: a first-of-its-kind feature that fundamentally changes how organizations conduct investigations. Now, operators can use AI to visually reconstruct the entire journey of people and vehicles by unifying video events from all cameras onto a single, map-based timeline – accelerating a process that previously could require days of manual investigation down to seconds.

Here’s how AI-powered unified timeline works:
Identify an initial person or vehicle of interest using any one of Verkada’s advanced search tools within Command. Pause the footage and click on the highlighted person or vehicle to create a unified, end-to-end timeline.
Sophisticated face detection and attribute-based re-identification tools quickly pinpoint additional sightings of that person. Attribute-based search can more effectively retrieve additional sightings of the subject – even with poor camera angle, image quality, or obstructions such as a hood or mask – in order to automatically find the best clip of their face, and automatically add face search from that to provide the best results. This also means if your organization has face search disabled, the feature will still work, relying only on appearance.
Sightings are added to a chronological timeline at the bottom of the AI-powered unified timeline page, enabling security teams to view events end-to-end in a single view.
Click on people or vehicles to add them to the timeline from historical footage playing within the AI-powered unified timeline page – no need to navigate to other pages within Command. If you have a Verkada LPR camera, you can also add associated license plates directly to the timeline as well.
For organizations with floorplans in Command, a dedicated view highlights which cameras detected the subject(s) of interest, along with the order of these detections. If your organization has multiple floors, the floorplans will dynamically change as the timeline progresses.
Once a complete and organized view of relevant footage has been built, convert all sightings into a comprehensive evidence package by easily saving the unified timeline as an incident.
AI-powered unified timeline streamlines the investigation process within Command, providing a single, intuitive tool with robust capabilities. Security teams can quickly and effectively reconstruct complex incidents involving any number of subjects, often in just a few clicks. For example:
Find and track both shoplifting suspects and associated getaway vehicles. Obtain a complete timeline of all relevant people and vehicle movements from the minute they arrived on site until the moment they disappeared from view.
Easily identify and compile footage of multiple individuals involved in a single security investigation – even if they are seen in different areas – into a single incident.
Search for a missing or lost individual to determine where they were last seen on camera. Use the integrated floorplan view to better understand the direction they were traveling in.
