LTT Partners Builds a Nationwide Practice Around Customer Success

The Partner

LTT Partners didn't start as a traditional security integrator. When co-founders Lance Sheidenberger and Andy Nelson launched the company in 2018, they came from sales backgrounds and initially focused on telecommunications consulting in the Pacific Northwest.

That background ultimately shaped a different kind of security business. Rather than adapting an existing integration practice to the cloud, LTT built its capabilities around modern technology and a customer-first sales and service model.

Today, LTT is headquartered in Bend, Oregon, with in-house, licensed low-voltage installers covering Oregon and Washington with subcontractor relationships across the country. The company serves SLED and corporate customers, with a particular focus on mid-size and enterprise organizations with multi-site, national operations.

The Challenge

As LTT expanded into physical security, the team quickly learned that selling hardware was only one piece of a successful customer deployment.

Customers needed a partner that could understand their security goals, design the right environment, handle installation and configuration, and continue supporting them after the technology was installed. LTT saw an opportunity to build that experience from the ground up.

“We quickly realized that it's a lot more than just selling hardware,” Sheidenberger said. “It's helping the customer deploy an outcome with that product.”

That realization led LTT to invest in its own installation capabilities, technical expertise and customer support model, giving the company greater ownership of the entire customer experience.

Why Verkada?

LTT first discovered Verkada through an existing telecommunications customer in 2018. After researching the company, Sheidenberger immediately saw an opportunity.

“I researched the company and thought, ‘Wow, this is a true industry disruptor.’”

At the time, many traditional integrators were still focused on legacy, on-premises systems. LTT saw cloud-managed physical security differently. The simplicity of the technology and the ability to solve many of the frustrations customers experienced with traditional systems aligned naturally with the way Sheidenberger and Nelson wanted to build their business.

“We were a hundred percent sold on the value. It was this perfect partnership where we were helping customers move to a new way of managing physical security.” —Lance Sheidenberger, CEO of LTT Partners

Seven years later, LTT sells across the Verkada portfolio and has achieved Platinum Plus installer status, with its team completing ongoing certification and training. Cameras, access control and alarms remain core parts of the business, while intercoms, mobile security trailers and other newer solutions have expanded the opportunities LTT can address for customers.

The Solution

LTT's approach is built around staying involved throughout the customer journey.

Every engagement includes a technical project manager who works with the customer from the pre-sales stage through deployment. LTT's team designs the solution, configures the organization and Command environment, names cameras, establishes alerts and schedules, and trains users. That training and support remain available throughout the customer relationship.

One example is the City of Bend, right in LTT's backyard.

The city's downtown surveillance environment relied on a legacy on-premises system and a complicated point-to-point network connecting cameras across buildings, rooftops and poles. Bandwidth constraints made footage difficult to stream and retrieve, and remote access was limited.

Building on LTT's previous work helping a local hospital migrate hundreds of cameras from a legacy system to Verkada, Sheidenberger approached the Bend Police Department with a new way forward. LTT ultimately won two Request for Proposals (RFPs) and began helping the city transition its downtown cameras while expanding its work across police, fire, facilities and IT.

Rather than rebuild the city's complicated network, LTT paired cloud-managed cameras with LTE connectivity to provide faster access to footage without relying on the existing point-to-point infrastructure.

“The simplicity of the Verkada platform and ability to access the cameras remotely was huge,” Sheidenberger said.

The Results: Expanding What's Possible

Officers can now access cameras from their mobile devices instead of traveling to individual locations to retrieve footage. That gives teams greater visibility into incidents and helps officers arrive with more context about what's happening on the ground.

When the city needed surveillance in an area without existing infrastructure, LTT introduced a mobile security trailer that could be deployed directly where visibility was needed.

“We can put this trailer in your problem areas, give you instant insight and use it as a deterrent,” Sheidenberger said. “That's been a game changer.”

Supporting Customers for the Long Term

LTT's role doesn't end when installation is complete.

Customers have access to their dedicated LTT team for ongoing training, configuration and troubleshooting, with Verkada's 24/7 technical support providing an additional layer when needed. Because LTT remains connected to its customers' organizations, its team can follow support issues and make sure they are fully resolved.

For LTT, that layered model is an important part of delivering a better customer experience.

“You have your value-added reseller or integrator, and then you have your manufacturer that provides killer support,” Sheidenberger said. “That's a beautiful thing that's working, and it's working very well for our customers.”

Growing from Local to Nationwide

LTT's work now extends well beyond Oregon. The company supports customers nationwide across municipal, healthcare, higher education, commercial and other enterprise environments while its subcontractor network allows LTT to support multi-site organizations across the country.

LTT has also expanded the ways it serves enterprise customers. For organizations with significant investments in existing cameras, the team can help create a phased migration strategy rather than requiring an immediate rip-and-replace.

“A company with thousands of existing cameras can now look at a Verkada Command Connector instead of having to do a full rip and replace,” Sheidenberger said. “That’s helped us gain traction with larger enterprise customers.”

Looking Ahead

What began as a telecommunications consultancy has grown into a nationwide physical security business spanning sales, installation, professional services, e-commerce and managed networking.

LTT continues investing in the capabilities behind that growth, from annual technical certifications and training to an expanding installation network and new ways for customers to buy and deploy technology. Its e-commerce business has also become another source of growth, helping the company reach new customers beyond its traditional sales model.

But the philosophy behind the business remains the same: LTT wants to own the customer experience, not simply make the sale.

For Sheidenberger and Nelson, that means combining LTT's technical expertise and hands-on service with technology and support they can confidently stand behind, whether the customer is across town in Bend or operating sites across the country.

“We've been focused on scaling with Verkada and it's been incredible to see how much we've grown alongside them.” —Sheidenberger, CEO of LTT Partners
