Security solutions for

Colleges and universities

Unify campus security and power faster incident response.

Protect students, faculty, and staff

Enhance campus safety and defend against threats

Fast track investigations with privacy in mind

Quickly find critical incident footage across large campuses. Simply type a description or upload a photo of a person or vehicle to retrieve relevant video. After an incident, use AI-powered unified timeline to trace a person’s journey across multiple cameras and locations, using live video or historical footage to see what happened.

Automatically see their path on a floorplan with Verkada Access Control events displayed alongside the unified timeline, including forced-open doors, denied access attempts, and blocked doors, for a clearer picture of the incident. Easily enable live face blur while viewing camera feeds, or selectively blur faces when archiving footage to protect student privacy.

Simplify access management

Managing lost or misplaced keycards wastes time and resources. With mobile NFC credentials or the Verkada Pass app, students, faculty, and staff can use their smartphones to unlock select doors, while physical badges and EV3 fobs remain available for organizations that prefer standard credentials. For institutions using Atrium, a pre-built integration provides residence hall access, allowing students to enter dorms that are Verkada access controlled using their Atrium ID cards.

Transform incident response

Respond quickly and confidently across campus during emergencies. Instantly lock down all critical exterior doors across campus with the press of a button from a smartphone or desktop. Easily set custom lockdown scenarios for specific doors, enabling a targeted response for a single building or the entire campus. Bring video and emergency communications to nearby blue light stations by equipping them with cloud-based cameras, video intercoms, and cellular or Wi-Fi gateways for reliable connectivity.

Share intel with law enforcement

Stream camera feeds directly into campus security operations centers (SOCs), accelerating officer dispatch in response to critical incidents. Send interactive site maps with embedded video feeds to campus safety teams or police via SMS or a direct link, guiding officers to the location of the threat. Remotely unlock doors to aid first responders through the Verkada Pass or Command mobile apps, while keeping the rest of campus safely locked down. Higher education institutions own and control how their Verkada data is accessed, used, and shared. Learn more about our privacy controls in the Trust Hub.

Streamline visitor services

Simplify visitor check-ins at residence halls, student services centers, and alumni offices with Verkada Guest, a digital visitor management system. Send orientation and tour invites in multiple languages via email, elevating the visitor experience. Quickly issue temporary digital or physical access cards to vendors or adjunct faculty, granting time-limited access to select buildings.
