2-Day National REx Workshop and Exercise - Derry
A critical ingredient in the safe school recipe is the classroom response to an incident at a school — and an effective reunification plan to bring students and families back together.
Join school officials, community partners, and first responders for a two-day, immersive SRM-REx Workshop & Exercise hosted by Verkada and led by two instructors from The "I Love U Guys" Foundation.
The Standard Reunification Method (SRM) provides school and district safety teams with proven methods for planning, practicing, and achieving a successful reunification. Used in 78,000+ schools, agencies, districts, and organizations, the SRM helps communities establish a common language, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and build confidence in their reunification plans.
This two-day program takes participants from foundational knowledge to hands-on application:
Day 1 — Classroom Training: Explore the history, concepts, and functionality of the Standard Reunification Method; the key principles and roles involved in the reunification process; and the level of effort and materials needed to plan and prepare for reunification. Participants will also receive a brief overview of the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) and learn about the role that Incident Command plays in reunification.
Day 2 — Hands-On Exercises: Put your learning into action through functional reunification exercises. Participants will rotate through different roles — reunification team member, student, and parent — to practice role assignment, site setup, and mock reunifications. These exercises strengthen coordination, improve problem-solving, and build the confidence needed to execute a reunification plan in your own community.
By the end of the program, participants will be equipped to plan, execute, and refine reunification exercises within their own organizations and communities. Two instructors from the "I Love U Guys" Foundation will provide all necessary practice materials in their REx Training Kit, which will remain with the host organization for future planning and exercises.
