InaCOMP Turns Physical Security Into Business Results
With Joe Jenkins, EVP Business Development
The Partner
After more than four decades in technology, Joe Jenkins knows what it takes to build lasting customer relationships. As Executive Vice President of Business Development at InaCOMP Technical Services Group, he leads the company's national physical security practice, helping organizations across industries modernize security while finding new ways to improve business operations.
For more than 40 years, InaCOMP has helped organizations across the U.S. design, deploy and support enterprise technology solutions. Headquartered in Southfield, Michigan, the company serves customers across education, healthcare, manufacturing, legal, retail and other industries with a growing nationwide physical security practice.
The Challenge
Many organizations initially think about physical security as a way to protect people and property. InaCOMP saw a much bigger opportunity. Customers were investing in cameras to solve one problem, but they often overlooked how those same systems could improve operations, reduce downtime, monitor facilities and provide valuable business intelligence. The challenge wasn't simply deploying better cameras.
It was helping customers rethink how security technology could support their business long after installation.

Why Verkada?
Jenkins had already introduced Verkada into two previous organizations before joining InaCOMP. When he arrived six years ago, he brought the platform with him again. Initially, the plan was simple: use Verkada to expand within markets where InaCOMP already had offices. Instead, customer demand quickly changed the company's trajectory. As organizations with multiple locations looked for a partner capable of deploying consistent security solutions across the country, InaCOMP expanded far beyond its original footprint.
Today, the company has completed deployments in 38 states and multiple countries while acquiring more than 300 new customers through its relationship with Verkada.
“We started to become a little more nimble. Next thing we know, we’re nationwide.” – Joe Jenkins, Executive Vice President, Business Development at InaCOMP
For Jenkins, the platform approach made the difference. Rather than installing individual products, InaCOMP now designs integrated environments combining video security, access control and alarms.
The Solution
One manufacturing customer called InaCOMP after a contractor fell through the roof of its facility. The company already had cameras installed. Unfortunately, none captured the area where the accident occurred. Rather than simply replacing outdated equipment, InaCOMP redesigned the facility's camera coverage to improve visibility throughout the warehouse. But something unexpected happened after deployment.
The customer realized the new system could do much more than improve safety. Using analytics, teams began monitoring production equipment, identifying machine issues earlier and ensuring employees were following operational procedures. The same investment made to improve safety quickly became a tool for improving day-to-day business operations.
"How do we now turn these (systems) into a different capability for the organization beyond just security? Those same cameras became an important part of the customer’s business to look at the health and welfare of their processes and their people." – Jenkins, EVP of Business Development at InaCOMP

The Result: Driving Business Value
Beyond increasing their physical security through greater visibility across the 400,00 square foot warehouse, the expanded deployment and overall experience also changed how the customer approached security across additional facilities. This led to broader deployments throughout its operations while also reducing previously existing blind spots and improving worker safety.
Smarter Operations
As teams became more familiar with the platform, they found new ways to use analytics beyond security. Camera data helped monitor equipment health, identify production issues and improve operational efficiency, reducing costly downtime while providing new insights into day-to-day operations.
Long-Term Customer Success
For InaCOMP, deployment is only the beginning. Every customer receives structured training, recorded sessions and ongoing guidance to help teams continue discovering new ways to use the platform. “The best way to learn the system is to use it,” encourages Jenkins. This philosophy has helped customers move beyond simply securing facilities to improving the way their businesses operate.
Looking Ahead
As InaCOMP continues expanding its national physical security practice, Jenkins remains focused on helping organizations unlock greater value from every deployment. That means combining technical expertise with a partnership-first mindset, bringing as much value to customers and partners as InaCOMP expects in return.
For Jenkins, success isn't measured by the number of cameras installed. It's measured by helping customers solve bigger business challenges.
"The proof is in the pudding and we're going to get the customers we're going to get because we take care of them the right way." –Jenkins, EVP of Business Development at InaCOMP
