Product Updates
Visitors can now enjoy a frictionless, hands-free entry experience by opting into AF64 Face Unlock during check-in. Once enrolled, visitors can unlock authorized doors equipped with the new AF64 Access Station Pro. This feature will be available when the AF64 is ready to ship later this year.
The badge designer has been upgraded with an advanced design mode that gives admins greater control over badge layouts. With an all-new drag-and-drop interface, users can add, remove, and resize elements, adjust borders and orientation, and apply background images. The advanced designer mode also supports conditional logic, allowing badges to display different elements based on guest type, clearance level, or other attributes.
This new API enables organizations to develop their own custom automations to create, edit, and delete Guest events from external event management platforms. For example, an event created in a third-party ticketing system or contractor management application can now automatically generate an event in Verkada Guest.
Invited visitors can now use their Guest Pass QR code to unlock external doors that use Verkada intercoms. When a visitor arrives, they can simply scan their QR code on a video-enabled Verkada intercom to check in and unlock the external door. This creates a seamless flow whereby invited visitors can move from the street, through the exterior perimeter, and into the lobby for check-in without needing to wait for a receiver to remotely unlock the door. Guest’s integration with PowerSchool is now out of beta. With this integration, schools can write daily attendance and class-level attendance directly from the Guest kiosk. This technology ensures that when a student arrives late or leaves early, the official academic record is updated instantly, streamlining administrative reporting and improving student accountability.
This new API enables organizations to create custom integrations between third-party systems and the Verkada Guest approved visitor list. For instance, a school district can integrate a specialized volunteer management application, or a company can link its contractor database, allowing this approved data to be automatically pushed into Verkada Guest. This capability ensures approved visitor lists stay current, significantly reducing the need for manual administrative updates and eliminating security vulnerabilities associated with outdated lists. When a visitor scans their driver’s license at the iPad kiosk, Verkada Guest now uses biometric analysis to compare the photo on the physical ID against the live image of the visitor captured by the kiosk’s iPad camera. This helps verify that the person presenting the ID is the ID holder, reducing the risk of identity spoofing or unauthorized entry by individuals using stolen credentials. Additionally, for pre-registrations completed via mobile phone, a liveness check is performed.
Verkada Guest now integrates with Microsoft Outlook and Google Calendar via a new Outlook add-in and Google Chrome extension, simplifying event management and security.
When creating an event, organizers can open the Verkada Guest add-in (for Outlook) or Chrome extension (for Google Calendar), then specify the guest site and type for attendees. This automatically creates a linked event in Verkada Guest and sends pre-registration invitations to all expected visitors. Once registered, visitors receive a confirmation email with visit details and a QR code for expedited entry.
To enable these integrations, Microsoft Exchange Admins must enable the Verkada Guest Events add-in from the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, and Chrome Enterprise Admins must install the Verkada Guest Chrome Extension from the Google Admin console.
Verkada Guest now supports customizable visitor data deletion timeframes and allows for individual visit data to be deleted. This new functionality helps organizations maintain compliance and honor visitor data deletion requests. Org Admins can define retention policies for their locations, specifying how many days after a visit occurred that visitor data will remain available—from custom day counts to indefinite retention. These features help organizations stay compliant with data privacy regulations such as GDPR.
Workplace site viewers and admins can now send SMS messages to visitors, making it easy to share important information with visitors at a location. Senders can select recipient groups such as all visitors onsite, visitors with specific guest types, attendees of an event, attendees with a specific status (i.e., not registered, signed in, or signed out), or individual recipients. This new functionality enables organizations to share information such as parking details, visit reminders, and post-event messages to keep visitors informed before, during, and after their visits.
