Product Updates
An improvement to the integration between Verkada's video intercoms and the VX52 Viewing Station provides instant, full-screen video when a call is initiated. This new feature automatically expands the intercom's camera feed, along with up to four additional context cameras, eliminating the need for security operators to search for the correct video tile during a call. By providing immediate, clear visual context, this system allows for a quicker and more effective response to emergency situations. To learn more, read the full announcement.
Verkada has launched a new keypad directory feature for its TD63 intercom, allowing visitors to directly connect with specific offices or departments in a building. In Command, administrators can easily configure the intercom with a directory of tenants, including unique call codes, and then print a physical directory for visitors to use. This new feature is easy to configure at scale, and provides a clear, efficient way for guests to reach the right person. To learn more, read the full announcement.
Visit Key enables organizations to grant visitors temporary, call-free access to their building. In Command, admins can create a visit key for each guest by selecting which intercoms and credentials are to be used, setting a valid schedule, and deciding whether the key is single-use or reusable within that timeframe. Visitors can gain entry using web unlock links, approved license plates, PIN codes (for the TD63 intercoms), and now, QR codes. To learn more, read the full announcement.
Automatic gain control boosts and normalizes speaker volume, regardless of receiving conditions. For example, if audio from a Desk Station is too quiet, the intercom will increase the gain. Conversely, if a VoIP phone's volume is too loud, the gain will be decreased. We've also recalibrated the volume slider in Command to support a louder baseline sound and reduce dramatic jumps in perceived loudness when the volume slider is increased. In scenarios where no one is available to answer a call, an intercom is offline, or a lockdown is in effect, organizations can play an automated message from their intercom speaker. In addition to uploading a recorded message or recording a message directly in command, organizations can now type a message and leverage AI to convert their text into a clean, professional audio message. Organizations will be able to generate messages in the following languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, and Korean. To learn more, read the full announcement.
Last year, we upgraded our media pipeline to transmit better quality audio and video from intercoms to the following applications: Verkada Pass (iOS and Android), Desk Station (iOS), and Command mobile. We are now bringing the same improved experience to Verkada Command on web. With this update, we are minimizing losses to compression by shifting from narrowband audio to wideband audio and also improving video playback time. To learn more, read the full announcement.
A new adapter plate simplifies the installation of TD53 intercoms into third-party emergency calling fixtures, like blue light phone stations. By providing a dedicated mounting solution, it eliminates the complexities often associated with fitting intercoms into non-standard enclosures. This makes the installation process more efficient, facilitating a secure and reliable setup for critical communication systems.
Every intercom call is centrally logged in Command, with a timeline of the call, video and voice recording, and a call transcription where applicable. Call transcriptions are now available in nine additional languages beyond English, including: Spanish, French, German, Hindi, Russian, Portuguese, Japanese, Italian, and Dutch. When organizations pair a Verkada bullet camera with their intercom, they will now see license plate data integrated into the intercom call receiving and call history experience. Specifically, they can see detected license plates as part of call summaries, receive in-call notifications when a license plate of interest (LPOI) is spotted, and search for specific license plates or LPOI matches in their intercom call history. For more information, read the full announcement.
Each intercom can now be associated with a unique phone number. This enables organizations to more easily distinguish intercom calls from out-of-state spam and recognize which intercom is calling. For more information, read the full announcement.
