Organizations that use Verkada access control or intercoms can allow employees and contractors, who may not have a keycode, to disarm with their everyday credential – such as a card, fob, phone, Apple Watch, or even license plate. Admins decide which doors can disarm which partitions upon a successful unlock, and see who disarmed the system at what time. Even if the internet is down, badge-to-disarm works locally. The WH32 and WH52 are purpose-built for extending wireless sensor coverage in a cost-effective manner. Organizations can add sensors at a distance from the alarm panel with the WH52 wireless hub, which can be installed anywhere with an ethernet drop. And with the WH32 wireless repeater, which boosts the range of any hub, organizations can reach areas with poor signal without running cable. Read the full announcement.
In addition to person and loitering detection, organizations can now also set the camera to trigger when a person crosses a digital line in the specified direction. Site admins can now create key codes that only have permission to arm and disarm certain partitions of the alarm site.
Today, we embark on the next chapter of our Alarms product line with the launch of the new Verkada Alarms – reimagined from the ground up with brand new software and hardware.
Verkada is announcing the upcoming end-of-sale of classic Alarms, to be replaced by new Alarms. The classic Alarms SKUs listed here will reach end-of-sale on February 7th, 2025 in the United States only. After February 7th, only renewals of classic Alarms licenses will be allowed. Verkada will continue to provide support for classic Alarms products.
Since new Alarms is not available outside of the US yet, all classic Alarms SKUs will continue to be available for purchase outside of the US, based on inventory availability.
In addition, the BR34 Wireless Glass Break Sensor will reach end-of-sale on February 7th, 2025 in all countries.
Site admins are now able to create one-time exceptions that will automatically change an alarm site’s armed or disarmed state. Admins can schedule these changes up to a year in advance, rather than editing a recurring weekly schedule or manually arming or disarming a site when needed. For example, an admin could choose to have their site armed all day on a holiday when employees will not be present, or remain disarmed later than usual if a monthly cleaning crew is expected on-site.
One-time exceptions can be scheduled under the Arm/Disarm tab in the Settings page of an alarm site.
Customers can now choose to have a BZ11 Horn Speaker play an alert message when an event is detected, without raising an alarm or involving monitoring agents. These alerts can consist of an uploaded audio file or a text-to-speech message. Automatic speaker alerts are configured from the Alerts page in Command, and admins can set a schedule for when these alerts will take effect (if the BZ11 is part of an alarm site, this schedule does not have to match the alarm site’s arm/disarm schedule).
Automatic speaker alerts can be used as notifications, such as a reminder to close a door or that the property is under video surveillance.

All Alarms functionality that was previously available only on a desktop or the Alarms mobile app is now available in the new version of the Command mobile app. This includes adjusting device settings, alarm schedules, and video verification rules; adding or revoking alarm key codes; and viewing alarm incident details.
For users that do not have access to Command, remote arm/disarm functionality and a digital panic button will remain available in the separate Alarms mobile app.

Alarm device events are now available in the Alerts page. This will allow organizations to separate users who should receive device and system alerts (such as a low battery warning) from those who should receive an alarm event notification (such as an intruder on the property). Admins can now configure routine device alerts through the Alerts page, while users on the Alarms Contact List will remain the points of contact for escalated threats. This helps to ensure that alerts are routed to the correct users who can take appropriate action.
