Maps is a new feature in Command that allows organizations to create a dynamic digital twin of their locations. Now, users can place all of their Verkada products alongside other critical safety assets like AEDs and fire extinguishers onto a single, interactive global map. The platform provides true-to-life structural context, showing dynamic door states (green for closed, red for open) and camera coverage cones to show blind spots.
From this unified layout, operators can monitor active alerts in real-time, remotely manage door locks, initiate site-wide lockdowns, and even generate secure, time-bound floor plan links for emergency responders. To make onboarding to maps effortless, our team will convert existing floor plans in Command or trace and vectorize PDFs and blueprints completely free of charge. Maps is available on desktop, VX52 Viewing Stations, and the Command mobile app. To learn more, read the full announcement.
The alert inbox now has actionable alerts, creating a more collaborative, shared experience for security teams. Now, instead of generating individual, uncoordinated notifications for every user, each alert can create a single, shared alert that recipients manage together.
This update allows users to coordinate their response in near real-time using shared statuses, assignment tracking, and comments. This prevents duplicate work, establishes a clear audit trail, and provides ticket management capabilities.
Admins can now create custom roles at the organization and directory level. Instead of giving users full org admin access, admins can grant exact permissions for specific administrative tasks, such as managing users or setting up devices. This ensures that employees have the access they need to do their jobs without granting unnecessary permissions.
Alert delivery has been standardized across all Verkada product lines. When creating or editing an alert rule, authorized users can now choose between two delivery options:
Broadcast delivery: Sends the notification to every listed recipient, regardless of Command permissions. For example, maintenance staff can receive vape sensor alerts without needing full access to site cameras.
Auth-scoped delivery: Automatically checks each recipient's site access before sending. For example, if an alert rule covers 100 store locations, each store manager only receives notifications for incidents at their specific store.
Existing alert rules will keep their current delivery behavior until an authorized user updates them.
Event-based webhooks enable organizations to push relevant data to third-party applications any time a particular event is detected, like an individual crossing a specific line after hours. These webhooks are available for cameras, access control, alarms, and Guest events.
Command now has a dedicated landing page for organizations to track user and group roles and permissions from a single page. Users can assign roles to users from the page, and also see what permissions each user has at a glance. To learn more, read the full announcement.
Administrators can now use AI to filter audit logs using natural language prompts rather than manually configuring complex search parameters. By simply typing conversational queries like "show me who deleted users last month," teams can instantly find specific logs and investigate quickly. This feature will be available at the end of May.
Administrators can now configure custom Video Security and Workplace permissions at the site level. This functionality ensures that Command users are given only the permissions they need to do their jobs. Creating a new custom role is easy – organizations simply create the new role, then adjust the toggles to fit the role’s precise permission set. For each custom role, admins can see the associated permissions, users with the role, and groups with the role. This feature will be available in Command at the end of May. Site Planner can now support multiple users viewing and updating a floor plan simultaneously, accelerating the planning phase for large, complex sites. This feature will be available in April.
The Command mobile app now supports organizations hosted in our FedRAMP In Process (Moderate) environment, allowing Command organizations hosted in AWS GovCloud to manage their security operations on the go, from remotely monitoring live feeds, receiving alerts, and managing devices remotely.
