Bringing cloud-managed physical security to public sector agencies

We’re proud to announce that the Verkada Command Platform is now GovRAMP Moderate Authorized.

Verkada is listed on the GovRAMP Authorized Product List, and the GovRAMP Authorization letter, also known as the ATO letter, is available to customers upon request in the Verkada Federal Compliance package.

This achievement completes the trio of FedRAMP, GovRAMP, and TX-RAMP authorization for Verkada, helping simplify procurement for federal, state, and local government agencies, as well as the contractors that support them.

With GovRAMP Authorized, public sector organizations can more confidently adopt Verkada’s government-grade platform to protect people, facilities, and critical infrastructure across distributed environments. For agencies responsible for securing city buildings, schools, transportation hubs, utilities, public works facilities, and other government locations, Verkada provides a secure and scalable way to manage physical security across distributed environments. Teams can monitor facilities, manage devices, and respond to incidents with greater speed and visibility.

What GovRAMP means

GovRAMP, formerly known as StateRAMP, provides a standardized framework for evaluating the cybersecurity posture of cloud products used by government organizations. The program helps agencies assess trusted cloud solutions through independent validation, documented security controls, and ongoing monitoring requirements.

Achieving GovRAMP Authorized means Verkada has completed a rigorous assessment process for its government-grade cloud platform. It also gives eligible organizations a clearer path to adopting Verkada by reducing duplicative security reviews and helping procurement, IT, and security teams evaluate cloud-managed physical security with greater confidence.

For Verkada, GovRAMP builds on broader public sector compliance momentum, including FedRAMP Moderate Authorization for Verkada Command hosted in AWS GovCloud and TX-RAMP Level 2 Certification.

Built for the realities of public sector operations

Government organizations are often responsible for large, distributed environments with limited staff, aging infrastructure, and increasing demands for real-time visibility. Security teams may need to monitor city halls, courts, schools, warehouses, utility sites, parks, and remote facilities while coordinating with IT, facilities, emergency management, and first responders.

With Verkada’s government-grade platform, agencies can centrally manage supported devices, users, and sites from a secure, cloud-managed environment. Teams can remotely access live and historical footage, investigate incidents faster with AI-powered search, manage access permissions, streamline visitor check-ins, and reduce the operational burden of legacy systems that depend on DVRs, NVRs, VPNs, and on-prem servers.

For public sector teams, that means fewer systems to maintain, faster access to critical information, and a more scalable foundation for physical security across every site.

Supported government-grade solutions

Through Verkada’s government-grade platform, public sector organizations can deploy supported product lines across core physical security workflows, including:

  • Video security with FIPS 140-validated cameras

  • Access Control for managing doors, users, buildings, and permissions

  • Command Connector for bringing compatible third-party cameras into Command

  • Cellular Gateways for connecting devices in remote or hard-to-wire locations

  • Air Quality Sensors for monitoring indoor environmental conditions

  • Verkada Guest for visitor management

Together, these solutions help agencies modernize security operations in a unified platform. Security and facilities teams can view devices across sites, investigate people and vehicle activity, share relevant footage, and respond to incidents with greater speed and context.

For video security deployments, Verkada’s hybrid cloud architecture also helps reduce infrastructure overhead. Government-grade cameras support onboard storage, edge-based processing, and secure cloud access, helping agencies scale coverage without deploying and maintaining traditional recording infrastructure at every site.

Security and trust at the foundation

GovRAMP Authorized reflects Verkada’s continued investment in security, privacy, availability, reliability, and governance.

Verkada’s platform is built on Zero Trust principles, which means systems do not automatically trust any user, device, or network without authentication and authorization. Verkada supports centralized identity management, single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, least-privilege access, and role-based permissions to help customers manage access securely at scale.

The platform also includes safeguards such as encryption at rest and in transit, audit logs, privacy regions, face blurring, and time-bound customer consent for support access. These controls help agencies protect sensitive environments while maintaining the visibility and usability their teams need to operate effectively.

Across the company, Verkada maintains a security program aligned with leading standards, including SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001, 27017, 27018, and 27701. For government customers, Verkada also offers solutions designed to support public sector requirements, including FIPS 140-validated devices and TAA- and FY2019 NDAA-compliant hardware options.

A continued commitment to government customers

GovRAMP Authorized is not the end of the journey. GovRAMP requires ongoing continuous monitoring, and Verkada remains committed to continuous security improvement and supporting the evolving needs of public sector organizations.

As agencies continue to modernize their physical security infrastructure, Verkada is focused on delivering secure, scalable solutions that are simple to deploy and built for the realities of government operations.
