We are excited to announce two new additions to our access control portfolio: EV3 multi-technology cards and our next-generation four-door controller.

ACC-AC-EV3-MT-1 Multi-Technology Cards

As organizations improve their entryway security, they are increasingly making the shift from proximity credentials to encrypted credentials and upgrading both their readers and keycards in the process. However, for many, these keycards do more than just unlock doors – they are also used with non-door readers that power office printers, vending machines, lockers and other workplace systems. Traditionally, this dynamic has created a tradeoff: invest in upgrading non-door readers to support encrypted credentials, or manage two sets of keycards for door and non-door uses.

The ACC-AC-EV3-MT-1 EV3 Multi-Technology Card eliminates this friction by combining both encrypted and proximity technologies into a single badge. This hybrid approach allows employees to securely access doors while still using the same keycard for everyday interactions, like printing documents or purchasing snacks. The card is compatible with Verkada door readers, which can read the encrypted side of the credential, as well as other non-door readers, which rely on proximity technology.

Multi-technology cards also help organizations manage phased roll-outs of new technology in their buildings. With these cards, they can easily replace door readers over time instead of forcing a transition to new credentials and new readers everywhere all at once. They are also ideal for multi-tenant environments, where the proximity side can be used to access main building doors and the encrypted side can be used for office specific entrypoints.

To get started, administrators can simply add the appropriate card number to a user’s profile in Command. From here, the user’s EV3 multi-technology card can be used with any Verkada reader. Our products with fourth-generation readers, including the AD34 and AD64 door readers, AL54 Wireless Lock, AF64 Access Station Pro, and TD33, TD53, and TD63 intercoms, allow organizations to toggle specific antenna frequencies in Command. This enables security teams to disable low-frequency antennas on entry points, forcing the reader to only acknowledge the "secure side" of the card, while maintaining proximity compatibility for non-door hardware elsewhere in the building.

The AC43 and AC43-G: Next-Generation Four-Door Controllers

We are also introducing the AC43, our next-generation four-door controller, built to improve reliability and support the next generation of access control infrastructure.

Like the AC42, it supports up to four doors, two AUX inputs, two AUX outputs, and a fire alarm interface (FAI), but features entirely redesigned circuitry. These internal improvements boost overall system reliability and provide robust protection against common installation errors, such as feeding too much voltage into input ports.

The AC43 also allows organizations to seamlessly mount the ACC-CEL-LTE-2 Cellular Backup Communicator directly onto the chassis, helping minimize connectivity disruptions. Furthermore, while the controller supports standard SLA batteries, it is also engineered to support next-generation lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery technology in the future. Compared to traditional lead-acid batteries, LiFePO4 offers higher energy density and a longer lifespan, helping reduce maintenance over time.

For organizations with elevated compliance requirements, we are also launching the AC43-G. This government-grade, TAA-compliant version of the controller incorporates FIPS validated encryption to help meet stringent security requirements. With this addition, government agencies and contractors can now deploy a full suite of one-door, four-door, and sixteen-door controllers managed through the standard Verkada Command platform or through Command hosted in AWS GovCloud.
