Unlike traditional alarm systems, Verkada Alarms is designed to deliver value across three distinct areas: intrusion detection, perimeter protection, and employee safety. As we continue to invest in the employee safety use case, we see the alarm keypad — long treated as a simple arming device in traditional systems — as an untapped asset. That’s why we’re excited to launch two new capabilities that transform the BK22 keypad into a tool for real-time safety and incident response:
Live camera feeds directly on the keypad
Two-way audio with SOC teams
Improve Employee Safety with Live Video Feeds

One of the most common employee safety risks occurs at the end of the day. A staff member arms the alarm system, turns off the lights, and walks toward the exit without knowing what may be waiting outside.
Now with the ability to view live feeds directly on the keypad, employees can quickly enter their key code and check exterior cameras to confirm that it’s safe to exit. Additionally, staff can use the live feeds to investigate what might be triggering certain zones before arming the site. All cameras in the alarm site, whether configured as triggers or context cameras, will be viewable on the keypad.
Two-Way Audio During Emergencies
Many organizations have shelter-in-place protocols that direct employees to back rooms or secured areas during emergencies. But once people are there, centralized security teams often have no reliable way to communicate with them, making it difficult to assess the on-ground situation.
With two-way audio communication* via the BK22, SOC teams now have a direct line with staff through the keypad’s built-in speaker and microphone. During an incident, security teams can initiate the call and speak directly with people on site to confirm safety, provide instructions, and quickly determine the appropriate response.

Get Started
Live camera feeds are available today and two-way communication will be available on February 19th on all BK22 keypads connected over PoE. Site Admins can enable these features and manage other keypad settings from the Alarm Devices page in Command:
