Bringing cloud-managed and AI-powered physical security to government agencies

We’re proud to announce that Verkada Command, hosted in AWS GovCloud, has achieved FedRAMP® Authorized status at the Moderate impact level — now officially known as FedRAMP Moderate Certified status.

This milestone marks an important step in Verkada’s continued commitment to helping federal agencies and government contractors modernize physical security with solutions that meet rigorous federal security standards. With this status, agencies can more confidently adopt Verkada’s government-grade platform to secure facilities, critical infrastructure, streamline operations, and improve real-time visibility across sites.

What FedRAMP Authorized means

FedRAMP® is the U.S. government-wide program that standardizes security assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring for cloud products and services used by federal agencies. Verkada worked with the U.S. Department of Energy as its agency sponsor through the FedRAMP authorization process.

Achieving FedRAMP Authorized status means Verkada Command in AWS GovCloud has completed a rigorous security review against the Moderate baseline. It also means agencies can leverage Verkada’s FedRAMP package as part of their own authorization processes, helping reduce duplicative reviews and accelerate the path to adopting modern cloud-based physical security.

Supported government-grade solutions

Through Verkada’s government-grade platform, public sector organizations can deploy supported product lines across core physical security workflows.

Our government-grade solutions include:

Together, these solutions help agencies modernize core physical security operations in a secure, cloud-managed environment. Government teams can centrally manage supported devices, users, and sites; remotely access live and historical footage; streamline visitor check-ins; and rapidly investigate incidents using AI-powered search and alerts. For video security deployments, agencies can also reduce the operational burden of legacy infrastructure, with no DVRs or NVRs required and up to 365 days of onboard camera storage.

Built for modern government operations

Government organizations are under pressure to do more with constrained resources while keeping people, facilities, and sensitive environments secure. Verkada is designed to help teams move faster without adding complexity.

With Verkada Command in AWS GovCloud, agencies can:

  • Protect facilities across distributed, multi-site deployments with centralized management

  • Monitor live camera feeds from anywhere without VPNs or port forwarding

  • Streamline visitor management with digital check-ins, photo ID verification, and searchable visitor logs

  • Stay ahead of threats with alerts for loitering, line crossing, persons of interest, and vehicles of interest

  • Accelerate investigations with AI-powered search, reverse image search, and unified video context

  • Reduce infrastructure overhead by eliminating DVRs, NVRs, and complex on-prem management

These capabilities help agencies improve situational awareness, speed up response, and simplify day-to-day operations across facilities.

Security and trust at the foundation

FedRAMP Authorized status builds on Verkada’s broader investment in security, privacy, and compliance.

high security and compliance

Verkada’s government-grade platform is hosted in AWS GovCloud and built on Zero Trust principles, including centralized identity management, SSO, MFA, least-privilege access, and role-based permissions. It also includes safeguards such as encryption at rest and in transit, audit logs, face blurring, privacy regions, and time-bound customer consent for support access.

Across our platform, Verkada maintains a security program aligned with leading standards, including SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001, 27017, 27018, and 27701. For government customers, Verkada offers solutions designed to support public sector requirements, including FIPS 140-validated devices, FY2019 NDAA- and TAA-compliant options, and TX-RAMP.

Continuing our commitment to the public sector

FedRAMP Authorized status is not the end of the journey. It is an ongoing commitment to continuous monitoring, security improvement, and supporting the evolving needs of federal agencies and government contractors.

As agencies modernize their physical security infrastructure, Verkada is committed to delivering solutions that are secure, simple to deploy, and built for the realities of public sector operations.
