Point-to-point support on the GW31-E

Previously, organizations would have to use third-party access points (APs) to connect their GW31-E Outdoor Wi-Fi Gateways to a Wi-Fi network. Now, Wi-Fi gateways can be used together for point-to-point and point-to-multipoint deployments. A gateway can be configured as an AP for other gateways, enabling an end-to-end Verkada perimeter security solution. To learn more, read the full announcement

Geofence alerts

Users are now able to set geofence alerts for mobile deployments equipped with GC31-E outdoor cellular gateways. This is especially useful for buses and trailers, where teams can be notified if a bus goes off route or a trailer exits an approved area. To configure an alert, simply draw a polygon to define the geofenced region and set a time threshold for how long a device must remain outside the area before an alert is triggered.

Power cycling devices on trailers

Users can now remotely power cycle any device on a Verkada trailer directly from Command. As long as the trailer is online, it can temporarily shut off the relevant port on the built-in PoE switch upon receiving a power-cycle request from Command. This hard reset is often the fastest way to resolve device issues without a site visit.

MT81 Cloud-Managed Security Trailer

The MT81 Cloud-Managed Security Trailer makes it simple to deploy and relocate Verkada security anywhere, including hard-to-wire or temporary locations such as parking lots, construction sites, large events, industrial yards, and law enforcement hot spots. Designed for rapid deployment, every MT81 is solar-powered, cloud-connected, and customizable with up to six Verkada cameras. The trailer comes in two variants: the MT81-6KWH and the MT81-13KWH, each with a different battery capacity to accommodate a range of power requirements. To learn more, read the full announcement.

Announcing the GW31-E Wi-Fi Gateway: the Easy Button for Perimeter Security

Our new outdoor Wi-Fi gateway makes it simple to deploy Verkada anywhere with power and Wi-Fi, including hard-to-wire locations like parking lots, fence lines, and school grounds. This allows for cost-effective perimeter deployments as organizations can avoid trenching cable and recurring costs for cellular data. Read the full announcement.

Expanding Multi-Carrier Redundancy to Additional Countries

One of the benefits of the Verkada Data Plan is multi-carrier redundancy in the US with automatic failover when one network is down. We’re excited to extend this benefit to our international customers, as multi-carrier redundancy is now available in over 30 countries including the UK, Canada, Australia, and most of the EU.

Carrier Selection for US Customers

US customers are now able to freely choose whether they want to use Verizon, AT&T or T-Mobile via device settings page, allowing them to select the carrier they know works best for a given site. For customers that don’t want to worry about carrier selection, we have a default  “Automatic” option, where we select the carrier based on a variety of factors including speed, latency, and signal strength.

The carrier selection feature will be available for US customers using the Verkada data plan beginning Nov 19th.
